I just looked up The Real Pocahontas (http://pocahontas.morenus.org/) which clears up some of my confusion. Although it's not really romantic of Disney to have her go through two movies in love with John SMITH and then end up with John ROLFE, or at least, that's my understanding...Love triangles. Meh.
But it's funny because Dakota and I were just talking about the differences between The Sound of Music and RL, and now we have this movie which blatantly rewrites history.
I don't get the animosity towards interracial couples. Seriously, wtf?!
Maybe they think it's a slight on black women, like the guy's saying they're not good enough or something?
