That 'balance' was a pile of horse crap. I don't believe you can randomly kill some person and have it satisfy the requirements of the old ways. And it makes little sense for it to be Nimueh- she was the one conducting the exchange, so to speak, like the conduit. So for Merlin to take a life in her stead, bypassing her role in the ritual altogether...wtf?! I don't believe it'd miraculously restore life to Gaius and take the other two's necks off the chopping block. SHODDY WRITING.
I'm hopeless at keeping up with the show's mythology, let alone the actual myths, but according to the article- 'the legends identified the Lady of the Lake as Nimueh. However, it seems they're not the same person in Merlin's mythology'. So they got that wrong? Tsk, tsk.
I'm curious to see if Excalibur will come back into it next season, particularly if they're bringing in the Lady of the Lake...
