Whee! Double commenting is always welcome. ^_^

[I'm gonna just respond to a whole bunch of your reviews, btw]

I am so glad you like it. I was pretty sure it was a good fic before I posted it but it never hurts to get validation, heh. Knowing you liked it enough to re-read? *flaily!glee* :D

It's weird it actually doesn't pain me to reread this and my other Mentalist fic. And so odd- I have so much difficulty writing, but with these two fics, it just- poured out of me. I got it all down in one sitting and I didn't stress overmuch, the words just knew where to go, y'know?

[I never write to a plan, so I guess that's how it goes- either perfectly or it just self-destructs. *winces* I had the photo bit worked out first, then the whole 'Jane thrives on challenge' and following introspection, then I realized there was no action and it was kinda boring so I had him doing some psychic tricks, and THEN I had the jelly bean brainwave to tie everything together. No plan whatsoever!]

There was squeeing. And.. perhaps a slight bit of dignified flailing.
(Not really dignified at all, I looked like a spastic butterfly.)

*g* Yeah, I'm glad you qualified that 'coz bb, the words 'dignified' and 'flailing' are mutually exclusive. Dignity and flaily-ness are pretty much antonyms, lol.

Also, on the off chance a meme ever asks me this, I've had a band name worked out in my head for years now. [Memes stump me when they ask for a creative answer because I don't do well on-the-spot, y'know? I sucked in Drama when they asked for improvisation. *shudder*] I came up with- 'Suicidal Butterflies'. From when momma was driving me to uni and this whole flock of butterflies smacked up against our windshield. It was just random enough to strike me as a band name, although probably not the most appropriate. I lik the idea of 'Spastic Butterflies' as well now. Though that's just as politically incorrect, lol. Ah, well...

>If there is a line that shouldn’t be crossed, he will locate it with unerring accuracy and dance a jig over it.She doesn’t know why, but she knows this: the act is as necessary to him as breathing.<

And there you have it, Jane, perfectly described in two sentences, because he's always acting and it's really only a very few moments over the course of the whole show when he's let it slip.

*glees* You picked two of my favorite lines!
I of course thought of Jane's confession of the mental hospital stint- but even that seemed calculated for effect, in a way. I'm not saying he was faking emotion or anything, but even as he was admitting this deep, dark secret, he was still tugging on Lisbon's strings, still shaping her reactions to him.

Her attitude there influenced my writing of her here, with her lack of response to his confession, no 'I'm sorry, let me comfort you' or any platitudes like that. She knows it'll hurt him, I think, to see him that way. And that's probably why he resented Bosco so much, because Bosco refused to see him as this brilliant eccentric genius and instead cast him as the victim, the grieving widower with a tragedy, nothing more.

I love the way you can say so much with so few words, you have a definite knack for it.

Wow, if anything, next to keeping them in character, that's been one of my biggest challenges! I tend to be ridiculously verbose, I'll never use one adjective when I can use ten and I have a weakness for endless sentences that trail off into the horizon. So hearing you say the above is such a compliment! *squishes*

Also, from the other fic rev:

*snicker*
*pats plot bunnies and feeds them carrots for being brilliantly evil and awesome*
I love your plot bunnies. :P

*eyes you* Oy! Evil wench! No fair encouraging the plot bunnies, damn it! We really need to set up the plot bunny adoption center and SOON. *nods frantically*
