was totally thinking of you when I read it. I was never really into the whole idea of Snape and Harry til you brought up the adoptive father idea. That's not the plot in this fic but discussing it with you made me a little more open to the whole idea of this 'Sevitus/Severitus' thing.

*sound of squealing brakes* *doubles back and chekcs tthe one-sentence half-assed header on ff.net* This is Snape/Harry slash?! Oh, God, hon, what did you get me into? Because now I have to read it because of the mentor thing, but, EW, pairing of death.

And I disagree that making things fit into a school year was the problem. Books 1-3 (two in particular) managed that quite nicely with little deliberate stupidity. It was only when JKR had to fill hundreds of pages in her blunderbuss editions that things started to get sucky.

It's like Twilight: when you're aiming for long, quality takes a dive.
