I hate computers.

But I need them. It’s the worst kind of addiction. 

I’m at the library using one hour of internet [and every spare minute the librarians are kind enough to grant me] to post on LJ, myspace, GW and wherever else it is I go online. Also, I download- mainly SGA, although I did go through a 4400 revival recently. And it’s thanks to the library internet, with its relatively faster speed-of-light capabilities. [Much better than mother’s crappy computer- 5 kb/s. *jaw drops* Dark Ages, much?]

 

So why am I whingeing?

 

For some reason, the public computers hate LJ. It makes no sense. How come they have this rivalry going? Why have they taken a disliking to one specific site? Anyway, it doesn’t help as I’m on LJ all the time because an hour spent gazing blankly at the screen as it d/l an ep is just too boring-

66 mb of 100 mb-?

 

Yeah, you get the idea. Not happening. I’d go crazy.

 

So I’m merrily posting an entry, still trying to figure out how things work on this site and an error message pops up, saying something’s rotten in the state of Denmark and apologies for the inconvenience but all my hard work [!] is going to waste as they wanna take a break and clear the screen for a moment.

 

Not surprisingly, I ignore the message and keep doing my thing. It works.

 

So today, I do the same as usual- ignore the damn message and hope the system gets the idea sooner or later. And again, the stupid error message is successfully sitting there in the corner, completely ignored, and I’m showing it who is the boss. Shut my page down on me? I don’t think so.

 

Except 5 minutes before the d/l is complete, there’s literally about 130 mb stored and I’m almost home free and the FREAKIN’ THING JUST SHUTS DOWN.

 

I could’ve wept. Horrible, horrible computer. So now I have to choose- LJ or SGA? More specifically, Misbegotten because I want to vid that scene of Shep defending Elizabeth’s honor. I need new footage for my clips and it would be perfect and I was so close to having half the ep and COMPUTERS SUCK. *sobs*

 

All the abuse and the cruelty and the endless bugs and viruses, yet I am still hopelessly addicted to them. *sighs* I don’t think I even want to be cured.

 

Is there something wrong with me?

I wish I lived over there too! All the cool SGA fans, all the cons...*sighs* The DVD marathons...the people who enable me and tell me there's nothing wrong with me, ;)
