'Color me blue, I'm lost in you, don't know why I'm still waiting...'

[Poll #1457732][Poll #1457732]
---

Last time I drew a comparison between Sanctuary’s John Druitt and our politician Peter Garrett. [Eerie, no?]

Now I bring your attention to Will Zimmerman. As soon as I saw him, I was all over the obvious Daniel Jackson comparison.

Apparently that’s why he ditched the glasses, lol.
But as Netty and I were doing our marathon, she turns to me and goes, ‘Hey, he looks like Harry Potter’ just as I was turning to her to say the same! [Great minds, etc. etc.] REALLY. Lookit.

I admit, there's little more than 'white male, brown hair, glasses' to this comparison. *shrugs* But still!

The  'Golden Trio'. Lol.

Mentor/student relationship.

Dumbledore and Harry ain't got nothing on Will and Helen's chemistry. :D

Shades of Dumbledore’s relationship with Harry.

After the death of his parents, Dumbledore left Harry with his relatives and kept him away from the world of magic, leaving him ignorant, if not exactly blissful. After his mother's death, Magnus also chose to keep him unaware of the fact that monsters- excuse me, Abnormals exist in our world, leaving him blissfully ignorant, suppressing all his traumatic memories.

Both Dumbledore and Magnus are expert at manipulating the people around them, even if they are benevolent, they're rather ruthless about the way they pull the strings. They've learned all too well how to provoke the reactions they want from those around them, what with being over a century old.

Although Dumbledore looks his age, while Helen is absolutely gorgeous. :D

And this, THIS!

Will: You’ve withheld things from me. You were there, weren’t you?

Helen: She was an extraordinarily brave woman. She died protecting you from that creature.

Will: You could have stopped it, done something.

Magnus: We tried, Will. I swear to you, we tried. It all happened so quickly we barely had time to rescue you

Firstly, note the same petulance in both Harry and Will- always blaming other people for the death of their loved ones. So irrational, tsk, tsk. Thankfully, it's just a temporary lapse in Will, while I've given up Harry as a lost cause, the self-centered prat.

Secondly- come on, the self-sacrificing mother, who dies to protect her son from evil monsters?

Harry and Will both get to see their mothers- unfortunately for Will, it's just a hallucination trying to lure him to his death, but Harry gets some closure with seeing his mother's spirit as she once again protects him from the Dak Lord. [Useless brat]

Their special destiny.

Of course Harry was always meant to grow into his heritage of 'Boy-Who-Lived', to be groomed to take down the Dark Lord. [Which meant
half-assing a plan, breaking all sorts of rules, getting into trouble, endangering others and waiting for the adults to come sacrifice themselves and rescue the Trio's butts, then whinging about how it wasn't his fault because nobody treated him like an adult. *headdeskfloorwall*]

Magnus: I’ve known this was your destiny since you first came to my attention.

Will: Yeah, since you knocked me down in an alley.

Magnus:
Since you were eight years old, actually...when you told the world a monster killed your mother.

And finally? Later on in the marathon, Will actually puts on a British accent!
‘Isn’t rather odd sort of your stock in trade?'
That totally made us giggle even harder, it was like a special shout-out to us, lol.

You all need to appreciate how awesome Netty is. Seriously, best friend in RL, and the fact that she’s family is a bonus.

[Druitt appears onscreen, all menacing and mysterious-like]

Netty: Who’s that? The science tech guy?
Me: Uh…no. What do you think when they talk about prostitutes being killed?
Netty: *confuzzled*
Me: Historical context, dead hookers, come on…
Netty: Oh, oh, Marguerite and Roxton, with the two guys that were killing together… Jack the Ripper!

Lol. The woman drops TLW references into conversation. My love for her, it is infinite. :D

---

Vidspam.
Three minutes in, Will does a brief impression of Helen's British accent. But it's well worth watching the whole thing- if you're a fan, it'll remind you of some of the best moments of hilarity. If you're not, well, off with you, become addicted already! :P

I don't think you sound ungrateful at all. You sound like a person who doesn't want to get hurt, and I honestly can't blame you. Your dad does sound unpredictable, and who in their right mind would knowingly set themselves up for a situation where they knew they were only gonna end up being hurt. By a family member no less. *hugs* I know you can't get out of there right now, I wish you could though.

Re: Hotch. Good lord, the man has awful taste in ties. I mean seriously, that's horrific. I think there should be fic where Emily steals and/or mutilates all those icky ties and forces him to get new ones, or better yet, they mysteriously vanish, only to be replaced by newer, cooler ones. And then Hotch has to profile the team to figure out who it was. Anyway, that's where my mind went.

About Sanctuary, my brother and I picked up on the Will / Daniel thing right away, for a while we were calling him Daniel 2.0, but I never realized how much he looks like Harry Potter, you're right! I think it's the eyebrow ridge, nose and chin. -shrugs- not that I've made a big study of this or anything, of course :D

Mentor/student relationship.

Me: Did she seriously just call Helen Dumbledore? *dies giggling and reads on*
And then I read on and decided I could breathe again without the moments of WTF-ery.
But the part about the chemistry with Helen and Will? So true. Okay here's the thing, this is where I can totally understand what you were saying about Merlin, because I totally ship them. I cannot help it. And okay fine, it's ten kinds of wrong and she knew him when he was a little kid and watched him grow up- I don't care. XD

And Will + british accent? ♥

*gigglesnorts* How much do I love Sanctuary? Gah. Show is made of win.

Didn't real the whole text but look at the Hootch Picspam- you're a crazy girl, you know, hm? :D :D

*snickers* Dude. I don't like Harry Potter. I frakking hate his guts.

ROFL I meant the whole book series/movies as well! LOL

*mental note to be clearer next time*

Although I do appreciate the fact that JK Rowling is actually a talented writer, unlike someone who shall remain nameless who introduced the world to the worst fucking series ever! /end rant

*squishes you* TOTALLY way important! I'm glad you have your priorities straight!

He's toooootally my main priority!

I love that he coordinated it with Emily's top in the ep with the paint-sniffing, train-hopping UNSUB.

Just further proof that they're in love, IMO!

nd omg, remember the rolled up sleeves and bared forearms in Minimal Loss. RAWRRR. >:P

I remember. Quite well. *thud*

I actually don't pay much attention to any of their wardrobes, except maybe Garcia because often times she looks FIERCE. And then sometimes I'll have a little chuckle at Reid, the pathetic little baby. Mother unfortunately didn't teach him how to coordinate! lol

Re Marina - yeeeeesh. So you can't get in contact with her or anything like that? That's awful. *huggles you*

Re your dad - YEEEEEESH. Can't tell you how glad I am that my father is semi normal (but very critical of my driving skills). How long until you can move out? Maybe you'll find that you and your father will get along better once you're out on your own, or something like that... I'm a bad advice giver, apologies for that!

And seriously, thanks for caring and listening to me. It helps writing this stuff out, and it's doubly helpful with your comments.

Anytime, that's why we're all here. *squishes you back*

Re my friend... yes, it was a very rough time, and one of the one or two major times in my life where I've actually felt really depressed. And the main sticking point with the whole end of the friendship was that it was so suddenly - it wasn't building over time. On the Saturday we were friends, on the Sunday it was over. And it was very, very, very painful.

And yes, my first and only text war... *sigh* It was pretty... um... callous actually, her friend was sending me texts all day pretending to be my friend, and then when I admitted how much I disliked my friend's friend (are you following? ROFL), that's when she revealed who it was... It was quite possibly the most horrifying moment of my life, but at the same time I couldn't understand why my friend had been sucked in by someone so horrible.

And I guess, I don't know, karma's a bitch, because my friend had the most horrible couple of years while we weren't friends... And I didn't so, thanks karma! LOL Or maybe I shouldn't say that because we're friends again?

[identity profile] dragonladyk.livejournal.com 2009-09-16 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not ungrateful. *hugs*

A) I love Hotch in any red tie and any blue or black suit.
B) I would turn lesbian for Amanda Tapping.

Gah. Really? :[ My sympathies.

Omg, you understand the conflict! I, too, have the hugest love/hate thing going on with HP. I can't stand the title character- but I adore Snape with every fiber of my being. I kinda wish someone could rewrite it as an adult's series with him as the main character. Or Hermione, because she's a million times more awesome than Boy Idiot.

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-09-16 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
*flails* Icon!love! ^_^

So, you love the tie? :D But then, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as is good taste. *shrugs*

Um, I'm not the most fashion-savvy person around- I just called 'em polka dots but I admit, I didn't look close enough to see if there was another pattern. The Tie of Doom just doesn't invite closer study, not from my horrified eyes anyway, lol.

Will totally looks like Harry! See now i wish Robbin Dunne would play Harry and maybe the movies would be actually good for a change.

Firstly, thank you for agreeing with me! The resemblance isn't earth-shatteringly strong, but if you squint in the right light...

Secondly, seriously, check out the Druitt/Garret comparison. It freaks me out. (http://borg-princess.livejournal.com/69272.html) Particularly where they're both smiling- I had to double, triple, quadruple check and make sure I didn't accidentally post the same dude twice.

Lastly, hot damn, someone that thinks the movies aren't the greatest thing since sliced bread! *happydances* They're so overrated, it kills me! *stabs self in an effort to escape the horror*

Re: I so should be doing something else . . .

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-09-16 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Variations on an ugly theme...lol, not afraid to call it like you see it! *high fives* I love Hotch, but truly, the tie is an abomination. I'm gonna blame it on Hayley. *nodnod*

Hehehe. I love inspiring crack!plot!bunnies. *buffs nails modestly* It's what I do. :P

Lol, I'm glad I could amuse you in your short break before returning your nose to the grindstone. Good luck! *squishes*

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-09-16 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Providing a roof and food, etc. does not a good parent make.

*sighs* Thanks for that. I just feel guilty when I'm reaping the rewards of his hard work and commitment and then trash-talking him behind his back. I guess I need to know that it's okay to not like him as a person, even if I do respect what he's achieved. So thank you, hon, it's always such a relief to know that you understand and don't think it's wrong for me to feel this way. *huggles*

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-09-16 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi, thar! *waves* Glad you like the picspam! And omg, yes, the blue-stripe is also quite awesome! That color looks so good on him!

Aww, thanks, hon, I appreciate the hug. [No, it's not creepy at all, the support is very welcome] Dude, that totally sucks having a father like mine during high school, I can't imagine the trauma to your self-esteem. *squishes*

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-09-16 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't blame ya for skimming the text. I have a tendency to babble in my fits of fangirlishness.

And heh, yes, I know I'm crazy. *shrugs modestly*
Lol, you should've voted for the 'weirdo' option in the poll. Nobody's checked it yet, I'm stunned! How extraordinarily tactful... :P

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-09-17 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
It's been a lifelong thing, and we've tried having talks, either informal or those dreaded 'family talks' but it doesn't produce any lasting change. Mainly because he thinks it's warranted. *shrugs* He doesn't really believe he's overreacting, these petty little things are of the utmost importance to him and he's so convinced that everything will fall apart and end in disaster if we don't follow his rules. It's seriously a mental condition, 'coz that isn't normal.

Mother does her best to act as a buffer, which is kinda rough on her, I think, since she CHOSE him whereas I'm just stuck with him. *shrugs* It's an emotional roller-coaster, but I've gotten used to it and he's toned it down some throughout the years. Maybe by the time I'm 40, we'll have worked things out. *eyeroll*

I do think I'll wind up needing therapy at some point, ugh. But it's helpful to post on LJ and just vent about my feelings like this. Thanks for the support. *squishes*

Btw? Cute icon! I can't wait for our show to return... ^_^

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-09-17 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you. *hugs back*

A) Man cuts a fine figure in his suits, I'll give him that. Though I'm mentally cracking up at the thought of him dressed up in Reid's usual attire. *smirks*
B) AGREED. Omg, I'm going to see her next month, if all goes well! *happydances*

PS. Icon!love. ^_^ Hotch needs a sticky note in his office reminding him to smile more often. *nodnod*

[identity profile] sleifa.livejournal.com 2009-09-17 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, but the first text of the *weirdo* option didn't fits :D
I REALLY care about mens ties. But I only think *oh thats nice/stupid*
not more :D Somethimes I think about the characcter behind the ties..
ehrm.. sounds weird, too :D
But i think you can see a little bit of mens characters... look at Booth from Bones :D
clachnaben: Ancient woman in robe sits on modern bus looking disgrunted (reid)

[personal profile] clachnaben 2009-09-17 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
It is now all your fault that I can't watch Criminal Minds without theorizing on Hotch's tie. I've started counting the amount of times the red-and-white polka dot comes up. You're right. It is hideous. I like the red-stripy one too, but I think that's just 'cause ALL of the polka-dot ones are slightly ridiculous.

Thanks for posting!

[identity profile] luisa-f.livejournal.com 2009-09-17 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but he got better after my mother left him and we all turned on him, probably realized if he didn't straighten up he'd end up alone.

Yeah, I do understand, it's different for me though, I love most of the characters but the books piss me off so much, what Rowling did with some of the characters (specially female characters) it makes my blood boil if I think about it too much.

[identity profile] sunny-serenity.livejournal.com 2009-09-18 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
OH! *huggles* Stupid life and relationships. Grrrrrrr. Arrrrrggghhhh. *kicks them in the shins*

FANDOM LOVE! Nice compare/contrast. Also, when does Sanctuary come back? MAGNUS!!!

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-09-20 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww! *squishes Reid* I remember that scene! Lol, what kind of villain steals jello from a hospital patient? TEH HORROR. :O

And hee. *smirks* I love that I've influenced your viewing habits. To be associated with CM, even if in a negative 'damn, I can't get Hotch's tie out of my head 'coz of her' manner makes me grin madly. Hehehe. :P

I think that's just 'cause ALL of the polka-dot ones are slightly ridiculous.

*huggles* Awesome, if enough of us agree, hopefully it'll be banished to some dark, forgotten corner from which it'll never emerge. *nodnod* ^_^

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-09-20 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
The kicks on my behalf are much appreciated, darlin'. *huggles back* I'm counting on karma to wreak vengeance on my behalf.

HEE! Thanks, glad you liked! It was a cracky idea that begged to be expanded upon, lol. And ooh, according to tv.com, Sanctuary returns Oct 9th! *bounces*

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-09-21 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
You have no idea how good it feels to know that I'm understand. Because this? who in their right mind would knowingly set themselves up for a situation where they knew they were only gonna end up being hurt. Exactly. I can deal with it as long as I'm not beating up on myself for thinking I'm in the wrong, y'know? Because that's just the straw breaking the camel's back and all.

I think there should be fic where Emily steals and/or mutilates all those icky ties and forces him to get new ones, or better yet, they mysteriously vanish, only to be replaced by newer, cooler ones. And then Hotch has to profile the team to figure out who it was.

ROTFLMAO. DUDE. That's just BLOODY BRILLIANT. *huge smirk* Omg, poor Hotch. Heeeeee. ^_^

I never realized how much he looks like Harry Potter, you're right!

*preens* I am so proud of myself for this epiphany, it's influenced a lot of people, hehe. Yay me! Thank goodness Will ditches the glasses, though- Daniel 2.0 I can take, but Harry Potter? *shudders*

Did she seriously just call Helen Dumbledore? *dies giggling and reads on*

I DID, I DID.
I meant more in the sense that they're both mentors taking the hapless innocents under their wing and then I realized that they shared certain personality traits as well.
Though hopefully Helen will never suffer the character assassination that had me loathing Dumbledore in the end.

Okay here's the thing, this is where I can totally understand what you were saying about Merlin, because I totally ship them. I cannot help it. And okay fine, it's ten kinds of wrong and she knew him when he was a little kid and watched him grow up- I don't care. XD

*punches fist in the air* HA. At last! I have won you over to my side! *bounces gleefully* [Does this mean you accept my Hermione/Snape proclivities as well? >:P]

But...my sense of victory aside, honesty compels me to point out to you that Helen and Will were hardly in constant daily contact with each other. She kept tabs on him, but they weren't interacting as adult and child on a regular basis. Whereas Morgana grew up in Uther's court. And Snape taught Hermione. *sighs* What's with me and impossible ships?

For Sanctuary, I kinda like Henry/Ashley. How old is he? Was he around when she was growing up? I'm disappointed in myself for all this questionable ships, if so.

OMG. OMG OMG. I just imdb'd and wiki'd Ryan Robbins to find out how old he was [no luck] and found out he was Ladon Radim. Holy crap! What kind of SGA fan am I for missing this? *runs to dig out Genii eps*

Btw, bb, any idea where I can find the webisodes? I was watching a few vids on youtube that show scenes DEFINITELY not from the series and look cool as! You'd think this would be on the special features on the dvd, but nooo.

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-09-21 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
:D Glad you found it amusing! I was totally not intending to offend any fans...sorry about the Will/Daniel thing, that was just a lead-in. 'Here's what you've seen before...HERE'S SOMETHING NEW, A SPECIAL BRAND OF WTF-ERY FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT'.

*huggles* Seriously, knowing you laughed over it makes me glee!dance like crazy. The pride...*puffs up* :D

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-09-21 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
I got to a point where no longer letting myself love him was the easiest thing for me in terms of no longer letting him hurt or upset me.

That definitely sounds like the point I'm at. My father's definitely not as awful as yous sounds, but it still needed that emotional detachment so that it would lessen the amount of misery and hysteria I'd go through every time.

I got so sensitive at one stage that even when he wasn't being that offensive or mean, I'd still wind up getting emotional and cutting myself, which pissed me off so much, like it was a damn Pavlovian response or something. Gah. Hopefully a bit more tolerance and maturity will come with time.

Thanks for the offer, it's good to know you're around if I need you. *hugs*

[identity profile] kat-rowe.livejournal.com 2009-09-21 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, it didn't offend me. I just avoid such comparisons because they're fiarly stupid. You comparison was insanely entertaining :)

*hugs you*

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-09-21 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Cheeky!
And omg, somebody finally checked it! WHO DARED?! I'MMA HUNT THEM DOWN AND TEACH THEM WHAT FOR.
Lol. :P

I never really noticed men's ties before Hotch. They were just- there. Now I'm going to revise my viewing habits and pay closer attention. Gee, what a hardship, studying attractive men so closely...

And hee, what's that icon of yours about?! Treason?!

[identity profile] kat-rowe.livejournal.com 2009-09-21 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Thanks for the offer,"

Hey, birds of a feather need to stick together :)

Hang in there and try not to let him get to you if possible. I think on a lot of levels, people like that are in a place where they consider any response to be a win so failing to respond not doesn't reinforce the behavior, it's a win for you *hugs you*
