Major freak-out issues this week

1. I'M BACK ON LJ! I had a break from the internet during the holidays- except iOffer, I spent hundreds of bucks there during the holidays...Criminal Minds, Dexter, Bones, Shark etc. etc.
2.. Turning 20 on Wed. *cringes* Ye gods, how OLD I sound. I need to be mature and responsible in two days time! Impossible!

3. The X-files movie out the day AFTER my birthday! I'm making my official b'day celebration July 24th this year. *glees*

4. Forced to purchase the learners handbook to driving. Forced, I say. All I need to do right now is study it- 'I've...looked at it,' I tell my parents. Look I have, but *read*? I'm putting that off as long as possible. It's a slippery slope from passing my learner's test online to actual *flails* DRIVING. Katherine got me to hold the wheel while she was answering the phone the other day? I almost ran the car off the road. Not cool.

5. And the most major issue...good news, bad news, worse news. I passed three units from first semester- failed Biz Org. Yuck. But at least I passed Property which is a pre-req for Land Law this semester, and it would have been messy and ruined my law track if I couldn't move on down the chain of units.

I'm vowing to do better this semester. After a brief flirtation with skipping this morning, I ended up attending Land Law. This is the beginning of a new and better me. :0 My parents are kinda forcing the metamorphosis, though- I'm only allowed FOUR hours of tv a week, and I'm banned from going anywhere and doing anything other than uni from Mon-Thursday. I'm not even allowed to visit my grandmother, who is pretty much the only person I see, practically every day, I'm closer to her than anyone else in my life and I can now only visit her on Fri and the weekend- when my parents can monitor how long I spend there and make up chores to keep me at home. *grumps*

Regret and contrition for screwing up last semester aside, I am kinda impressed that with only a day's study- from 9am til half an hour before the exam commenced at 2pm- I managed to score 64% in Psychology and a 55 in Soc. Seriously, wow. Imagine what I could achieve with a semester full of study? Even *half* a semester's worth of attention?

6. I'm actually excited about a unit this semester- I'm starting PSYCHOPATHOLOGY on Wed! Is that not the most awesome unit imaginable?! :D

1. I created a monster!

2/3. YAY BIRTHDAYS! dont' worry I'm 21 and I haven't grown up. Well, in some cases I have, but I'm still a giggling fangirl when it comes to certain things *g* And X-Files the day after?! FTW!

4. Pfft, I don't know how your Learners test is done, but ours is a touch screen computer. Seriously the questions are ridiculous *rolleyes*

Hee, please don't ever grow up! I need to know there are people like me out there. It's all like, 'When I was a child,I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a [wo]man, I put away childish things.' Tv obsession is NOT a 'phase', it's not something I'm going to grow out of, damn it! Fangirling lasts a lifetime, lol.

Oh, it's not so much the test itself that worries me, just that once I get it, people will expect me to actually drive. And I can barely walk in a straight line- sober!- so the thought of all the road casualties I'll be responsible for is sort of off-putting...

Oh I'm terrible at walking, but driving in a straight line is actually quite easy. Going round a bendy road is even easier, strange as that sounds lol.

It took me a few days to work that one out- I think driving in a straight line requires a lot of effort, to do anything pefect for a long period of time is demanding, and turning round a curve, going round bends, which at first seemed a difficult proposition to me, is actually easier because it allows us to give in and stop driving all perfect...give into the human weakness of screwing up but in a controlled manner...maybe? XP

Mmm, I think it's also that cars automatically start to pull to the left and you have to constantly adjust it. Going around bends and corners is simpler than making constant small adjustments.

Happy Birthday!! Welcome to the land of the twentysomethings.

I really hope your folks know what they're doing by restricting the number of hours you may spend with the person you're closest to. They just might find your grades and willingness to attend classes actually lessen. You know, if all you're thinking about from Monday-Thursday is "quick! get all the homework and studying done so Friday will come sooner!," you might end up so distracted during classes that the result may be the opposite of what your parents are hoping for. I guess try it and see, huh?
:)
Good luck with the new semester!

And saving your birthday for X-Files release day? Splendid idea!! :D

The land of twentysomethings! That makes it sound cooler and less scary, lol. Kinda fantastical and mysterious.

Oh, thank you for understanding the whole thing with my parents. I mean, it doesn't seem that bad and okay, I kinda deserve it for screwing up twice now, but I just felt it was way too harsh to include my grandmother in the 'ban'.

They just might find your grades and willingness to attend classes actually lessen.

Too true. I mean, way to breed resentment and frustration, right? This week was rather unusual though, in that my birthday allowed all sorts of exemptions, with visiting people and seeing movies, etc., so it hasn't hit me just yet- next week will be interesting...

...but ah, you make me feel a little more positive with the understanding and well-wishing. *huggles*

You planning on seeing the X-files movie soon? Or not interested anymore?

[identity profile] joyfulamanda.livejournal.com 2008-07-25 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
*huggles back* :)

The X-Files comes to theaters here tomorrow! I'm not working this Friday (huzzah!), so I plan to turn up at the very first showing in my area, which is...11:00 AM. *grins* Actually, there's a showing at midnight, but I'm too chicken to go out alone at such a time!

I see you've posted your opinions on the movie already...I'll avoid reading until I've seen it myself. Most of the time I like spoilers, but even after seeing the trailers and still pics and stuff, I know so little about what it will be like. And I'm kind of liking that. :) I will be surprised. I'm just so thrilled that this movie finally eXists that I know I'm gonna love it even if it turns out to be lame. :D
