I have always wanted to do this meme but whenever I try, I epically fail. And that sucks *frowny face* I love my icons.

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
*huggles* I know how you love your icons. You've posted about four or five times about the struggles and hardships of the icon cull. *empathizes*

It took me a while to figure out how it worked. *facepalm* Is it the coding that gets you? I tried randomly inserting the icon URL throughout the meme to no avail, and then realized- d'oh, where it says the mood:

img src="SADDESTURL" img src="HAPPIESTURL" img src="ANGRIESTURL"

...you get rid of the 'saddesturl' bit and insert the URL of the icon in its place, if that makes sense. The hardest part after that was when I changed my mind about which icon went where and then I couldn't remember which spot correlated to which mood and so I'd end up with does Roslin have to airlock a bitch?' in the 'happiest' box, lol. *eyeroll* Indecision, I haz it.

Dude, There are curly, white wigs. And said wigs look like alien life forms. I am perfectly within my rights to be concerned, okay.

And yes, I am going to sleep now, I suppose.

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh-oh, hope you don't have nightmares about Teh Wig now... I read a book or something if I've just been exposed to something scarifying, lol.

Ugh, the other night I had the most horrible dream about a guy getting his eyes gouged out, SO FRAKKING DISGUSTING, and I used that as an excuse to waste even more money [god, I'm dreading my phone bill this month] looking at LJ on my phone, lol. Your comments helped erase those images from my mind and let me get back to sleep.

And said wigs look like alien life forms.

*snorts* Never go into law. Oh, wait, NO, TOTALLY DO LAW! :D I wanna see you in court, trying to keep a straight face with the judge/s...

[identity profile] odakota-rose.livejournal.com 2009-03-16 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Books are awesome for detraumatizing, yes. I keep a couple poetry books for that, too.

Meep *huggles you* I hate gory dreams like that. They freak me out like you wouldn't believe.

*squishes* Glad the comment spam helped you sleep, I shall do it more often, then ♥

Oh, wait, NO, TOTALLY DO LAW! :D I wanna see you in court, trying to keep a straight face

Dude! I've been wanting to be a lawyer for a long time now. [Probably my fault for watching JAG when I was young and impressionable. I love corevettes, too. *g*] But judges don't have to wear the funky wigs here, I'd have to be a lawyer in Britain or Australia to deal with that.

I don't read much poetry- okay, any. I like the poetry that people quote in their fics, but I can never find anything I like to read. I'm into vague, abstract kinda poems that muse about life and death and those universal themes. Not specific things that I can't relate to, you know?

So, any recs? :P

This one in particular amuses me...quote time!

I was angry with my friend:
I told my wrath, my wrath did end.
I was angry with my foe:
I told it not, my wrath did grow.

And I watered it in fears,
Night and morning with my tears;
And I sunnèd it with my smiles,
And with soft deceitful wiles.

And it grew both day and night,
Till it bore an apple bright;
And my foe beheld it shine,
And he knew that it was mine,

And into my garden stole
When the night had veiled the pole:
In the morning glad I see
My foe outstretched beneath the tree.

Some of the analogies confuzzle me, but it's simple and meaningful.

Comment!spams are love, but you already know that. *squishes* I don't often have nightmares so this really freaked me out. I used to have heaps as a kid, though, like, mainly about my parents dying- there was one with my father killing my mother, ugh, and another where people staked him thinking he was a vampire- or about people trying to kill me. I don't know where those came from. *shudders*

So while we're on the topic, what do you want to do with your life? Law, for srs? Or is that just one of those whimsical ideas based on tv that you're not really keen on pursuing in real life?

[identity profile] odakota-rose.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Vague and abstract is good, yep. Erm.. I like a lot of your 'classic' poetry, you already know I love Emily Dickinson, I also like Robert Frost. And Shel Silverstein for his whimsical poems. Where The Sidewalk Ends has always been one of my favorites. ee cummings is excellent, [and his name really is done like that without caps, AHHHH!] but you have to be in a certain mood where you can put up with certain liberties being taken with punctuation and capitalization. His poems though, are SO, SO GOOD.

Hee, I like that poem, it sounds familiar to me. Who wrote it?

Ooh yeah. I used to have horrible nightmares when I was little. Just icky, terrible things. I had a variation on that eyeball thing when I was 7 or 8 that freaked me out for months. Ugh.

Well, regardless of JAG, I actually always did like law, and I took several of the prerequisite courses for it and did well in them. It's challenging, and fun, so I'm seriously thinking about it, or at least becoming a paralegal. It's either that or nursing, I think..

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, I'll see if I can find a site or like, whoa, I'm gonna be radical here- a BOOK to enlighten myself with their works. I have a feeling this 'ee cummings' guy is gonna make me headbash frequently but if you like him, I must check it out.

The poem's by William Blake. It was one of Pa's favorites. He also enjoyed quoting Shakespeare ad nauseum, 'those friends thou hast, grapple them to thy soul with hoops of steel...' *eyeroll* I admire people who know plays/poems well enough to single out a meaningful quote, I get bored half way through the first page and never get around to memorizing anything. *sighs*

Did you watch scary stuff as a kid? I think dreams are inspired by what you see or think in real life, but I was raised on cartoons- and okay, Xena/Hercules but I didn't dream about monsters or whatever from their mythology, so I'm puzzled.

Law or medicine, narrowed your options much, lol. Okay, sue me if we've had this chat before, but are you at uni already? You're talking about doing pre-reqs, so... Anyway, my vote is law. Then you can help me out if I don't understand something. :D

[identity profile] odakota-rose.livejournal.com 2009-03-17 08:05 am (UTC)(link)
I'm serious, you're either gonna love him or hate him, you can google him first, they have online archives of the poems. Something about the way the words come together is just brilliant.

Lol, I don't know much Shakespeare at all. Just some random quotes, because seriously, old English + me? Not a good mix at all. I get bored, as much as I try not to.

See, that's the thing, I never ever watched scary movies as a kid. The most frightening thing I ever saw was Indiana Jones, and Star Wars never frightened me, so... I don't know. I just remember some humdingers where I woke up in the middle of the night completely freaked out. And being an independent child, I never bothered telling anyone about them, just dealt with it on my own. Silly young!Lauren *thwaps younger self*

I've always leaned more in that direction, yeah. Law's fun. *nod* Plus, less risk of being exposed to some sort of crazy contagious disease and/or being barfed on by sick people. Blood, I can handle, but other things? EW, NO THANKS.
