'...you know me, I love to lose my mind...'

Finally, my Christmas cards have been posted! *happydance*
I am unusually efficient this year, why, yes, I am. *preens* So the people who pm'ed me their addresses, you shall receive something from me in...oh, however long it takes mail to cross from Australia to your part of the world. It ain't an exact science, y'know.

It's never the procuring of cards that's the problem, it's figuring out what to write. I spent about half an hour per card, agonizing over word choice, referring to my dictionary to make sure I wasn't making any idiotic errors, looking up synonyms, and then miming writing out the lines to make sure I had enough space [odakota_rose, yours will be the notable exception, lol, I totally didn't plan it very well]- all this fretting and nerve-wracking tension before I ever set pen to paper! If I did screw something up, please- discretion is the better part of valor, y/y? ^_^

If anyone else still wishes to exchange cards, just drop me a line. ;D

OMG, so you know how we moved into our own house a few months ago? Well, it's sort of a WiP- the house is pretty much set, except for some window tinting and such minor surface things, but the surrounding terrain is pretty much just mud and weeds, so we've got landscaper people coming in, right? They're totally unreliable [although thankfully less homicidally inclined than the workers on CM this week *shivers*], they keep scheduling a time to come in and then postponing for some reason.

Well, out of nowhere, they turned up this morning. And I only realized they were around when a construction dude wandered past the window while I was in my bra. *flails* Lately, mother's left the kitchen curtains drawn because it's way too hot and sunny, but of course, the one day she leaves the curtains open would be when I'm in a state of dishabille and a guy happens to walk past! Okay, so he wasn't looking in otherwise I'd be a hell of a lot more embarrassed but I nearly had a heart attack. :O

Imagine the Psycho music from the bath-tub scene, that was the soundtrack for this particular moment. Minus the hysterical girly shrieking. I thought a tactical retreat would be more effective than standing rooted to the spot, screaming. [God, I hate when people do that on tv- sure, honey, finding a body is really traumatic but why don't you shut your mouth in case you draw the killer's attention and just run and find help, y/y?]
---

WHEE, lookit the pretty!

Not only did I ace it, but I won the privilege of picking the topic of the next quiz, hee!
'k, so, woodchoc_magnum? You were asking about what three things I wanted to do before I die? Well, one of my ambitions just became to ace the quiz once more and earn a shiny Snape banner! :D

While in town, I came across the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince calendar.
Can you tell me what's wrong with this picture? [Apart from being blurry as all heck]

THERE'S NO HERMIONE. *massive!flail* WTF? WTF? HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!
Let's do a roll call, shall we?

There's the insane Bellatrix Lestrange, the irritating Lavendar and miserable ass Won-Won, Draco 'Ferrety Git' Malfoy, Albus 'Bearded Bastard' Dumbledore, baby!morte, Harry 'Boy-who-Lived-to-be-a-waste-of-oxygen' Potter, Snape *luffs*, another Draco, another Ron and then Ginny/Harry.

But no Hermione! EPIC FAIL, calendar people. *glares* How do you miss out one of the most important characters in the series? That's not even my bias speaking, she's one of the Golden Trio, FFS. You don't just forget her!

Oh, so because Ron's hooking up with Lavendar, all of a sudden Hermione doesn't matter anymore because she exists only to function as a love interest and if she's not needed in that role because the blonde bimbo's locking lips with Won-Won, then she doesn't matter at all?! RAGE BLACKOUT.

Leave me a comment saying "Resistance is Futile."
I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can satisfy my curiosity
Update your journal with the answers to the questions
Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions

1) If you could marry any fictional character (regardless of their gender and preference or spacetime logistical problems), which one would you pick and why?

I have a love/hate relationship with this question.

It's lovely to daydream about what it would be like, marrying one of my favorite characters- but otoh, I don’t think that I would particularly suit any of them. I love them because they’re special and awesome in their own ways, and the common trait they share is being heroic. Which is far from being my defining characteristic. [Otoh, if Bella can be a perfectly ordinary, rather boring, whiny-ass human girl, then why wouldn’t I be able to attract someone way cooler than I am, right?]

The other problem is that I ship all of my favorite characters, so that makes me a home-wrecker in my own eyes. Ack! I could never imagine splitting up Mulder and Scully or Shep and Elizabeth, etc. etc.

After all this qualifying and equivocating, though, my preference would be…

Crap, this is hard. Okay, I’m just going to pick someone and to hell with issues of attraction and compatibility and all that...

I’d totally marry Rick Castle. [Even though I’d be jealous as hell of Beckett and their flirty banter]

One of the many appealing things about Castle is the respect he shows to the women in his life.

I probably wouldn’t put up with his mother if she went and forced herself into my home and leeched off me, y’know? But he loves her and he puts up with her in order to give her a home. Oh, he’ll make numerous snarky comments about getting rid of her and wishing she were gone, but he’ll still tolerate her living in his house.

He’s also on good terms with his ex-wives, which I admire [because there’s nothing more irritating and boring than bitter conflicts with vindictive ex’s] and the guy is an amazing father to Alexis.

Who’d be a great stepdaughter, not one of those whiny, malicious drama queens who’d make my life miserable, thank god.

Apart from all that, Castle is handsome, witty and rich. What’s not to love?

2) What's your favorite flavor of ice cream?

I’m not a big ice cream girl, per se…I mean, I like chocolate ice cream just fine, but I prefer Magnums and Cornettos. If I had to pick one, I’d go with almond flavored Magnums. Mmm.

3) Best fandom ever for meeting interesting people?

Tough one, I’d say all my fandoms have interesting people. [Which fandom led me to you? I’d say you’re one of the most interesting people I’ve met, lol]

Currently, I guess I’d nominate Mentalist- I’ve made quite a few new friends through that show, plus, I’ve bonded anew with some of my other flisters over it.

4) Other than HP rape!fic, what genre of fic annoys you the most?

*snorts* You totally pegged my #1 pet hate, how astute of you!

Other than those…I’d have to say…SONG FICS. I have never found a single well-written, in-character song-fic.

Let me clarify- fics that use song lyrics at the beginning of the chapter or to serve as section dividers don’t count. I enjoy when writers do that because it leads me to discover some excellent songs. [I’ve done it myself with my TLW WiP of Doom]

But fics where the song takes up more than half the total word count, where the general plot involves the couple hearing a song that conveniently sums up their relationship and leads to them suddenly experience this blinding revelation that OMG, they are IN LOVE and MUST BE TOGETHER NOW AND FOR ALWAYS just annoy the hell out of me.

It’s not a credible genre in my opinion, and one we’d be better off without. *nods fervently*

5) Will you tell me something about yourself that you've never told your f-listers before?

Um. Hmm. There are quite a few things I’ve never told the others, mainly because they’re embarrassing as hell.

I could go for something innocuous like- I used to enjoy watching Teletubbies when I was younger [but older than the target audience]. *facepalm* I was really into all the kids shows for some reason. I could sing the theme song to Play School and everything.

But I could also confess that one thing I find…well, not humiliating, exactly, but still rather pathetic, is that I’m 21 years old and I’ve never had a relationship. I’m totally Drew Barrymore from Never Been Kissed- literally. Except I don’t think I have an Alias hottie in my future anytime soon, sadly. [Though Michale Vartan keeps saying how much he wants to buy a house in Australia and raise kids here, lol, but I think that's just something actors say, like, 'The people in Australia are so friendly and well-mannered' or 'all the Australian women are so hot', etc. etc.]

Ooh, so many things to say I can't decide what first to say! Okay, first: STUPID CALENDAR!!! That's the dumbest thing ever. Secondly...what am I supposed to say? Oh yeah, Resistance is Futile! Question me, bebe! Great choice with Castle, BTW. Anyone played by Nathan Fillion has got to rock, right? Except maybe Captain Hammer. But that totally doesn't count. Because....I said so is all. : D You and I are totally twins. The Drew Barrymore thing...well, I'm part of the club. If there was a club. Which there probably is but I don't know about it and I don't really want to be part of something like that anyhows. /random ranty thing over.

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-11-23 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
I KNOW, RIGHT?!
Especially since I found out later that there were TWO pics of Lavendar! OMFG, how can they justify something like that?! *death glare* Single Hermione isn't worth as much as loved-up Lavendar, that seems to be the attitude. Ugh!

*squees* Nathan Fillion is so awesome! And I love the in joke where he dresses up as Mal in one ep! I haven't seen it yet but I saw the scene on youtube and it is insanely cool! It's not even OOC because we've seen him get dressed up in crazy outfits before, like for laser tag with his daughter.

Hee, why, hello there, twinny! *squishes*
And you know I love you but I don't want to be in this club- um, where can I withdraw my membership? *angsts*

I don't hate myself for not being with anyone- I've heard enough horror stories from other girls to know it's not all it's roses and rainbows and bliss, I know enough who've regretted going that last step with someone who in hindsight wasn't right for them. But that doesn't stop it from being something that bugs me now and then. However, knowing that some of the amazing people on my flist are in the same situation makes me feel less alone and less of a weirdo, y'know? Makes me more content to be where I am at this point in my life. ^_^

PS. I WILL GIVE YOU THOSE QUESTIONS.
I just need time to think of something not!lame, I'll get back to you...

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-12-08 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I fail, I've taken a month to get back to you...*woes*

1. Favorite song/tv show/book/movie of the moment?
[Heh, lookit how much I squished in there, yay me!]

2. Suppose we live in an alternate universe where- GASP- Spencer Reid does not exist! What character do you pick for your new username? Or if not a character, what do you pick and why?

3. What ship would you wipe out of existence, either because it's too stupid and far-fetched to live or because the shippers are crazy-ass psychos?

4. I'm totally happy to be Metabolism-Stealing Villains with you, bb. But let's say you're standing on your own two feet and assuming your own superhero/villain identity. Who are you and what power do you wield? Also, if you can find a pic of the kind of outfit you'd wear, post that, too...

5. If you were going to get a tattoo, what would it be?

[identity profile] spence-reid.livejournal.com 2009-12-08 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
That's okay-they're awesome questions, so it was worth the wait.

[identity profile] sunkrux.livejournal.com 2009-11-18 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
HEY!! I asked you your "resistance is futile" questions missy...where are they? HUH? (go back to my post and you'll find them. ;) )

Dude I'd so totally marry Castle...cause baby then I could snog and shag him all we wanted. :D

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-11-19 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not ignoring your questions! But I am carefully considering how to answer them and I haven't had time yet to finish my responses. I meant to include them in my next post but then there was all that drama on my campus yesterday and I didn't get them done in time to post them, so...next week, promise! O stern taskmistress :P

I could snog and shag him all we wanted

Are you offering to share him, then? >:D

[identity profile] sunkrux.livejournal.com 2009-11-20 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
You better not ignore them. ;)

Oh HELL NO I'm not offering to share Castle. Get your own! That "WE" is him and me! LOL

[identity profile] kat-rowe.livejournal.com 2009-11-18 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
Castle would be a great hubby. The thing that drew me to that show was how respectful he is towards the women in his life *pets him*

lmao on 3 ... would have been either Middleman or Sanctuary. Unless we met through Sunny in which case it was TLW even though i never watched it closely ;p

thank you for excusing fics inspired by lyrics from your condemnation *pets you* the other kind are just annoying but a significant line or two here or there can be nice :)

#5 ... for what it's worth, I'm 30 and a virgin (as much as that shocks people who know my attitudes towards sex and relationships and some of the things I've done -- skinny dupping, naked paintball, etc) ... wait for a person who counts and you can't go wrong *hug* there's nothign pathetic about having priorities other than defining yourself based on some arbitrary "connection" to another *more hugs*

Hermione forver *smushes her*

it's odd but i sometimes walk past open windows in my bra and don't even notice it until the apartment complex manager goes "yeah, the maintance guys are talking again..." ... does that make me a freak?

okay. kat must crash now *hugs you*

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-11-23 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
I watched the ep with the bratty ex-wife yesterday [jeez, who'd'a thought he'd be the responsible parent?!] and it's just so unbelievably sweet that he gets her a job in order to get rid of her. He could've been nasty and unwelcoming [hello, divorce means he doesn't have to look after her anymore] but instead, he gave her a good career opportunity. *sighs*

I think it was through Sunny! You and her were having a TLW convo and I just intruded, 'coz...it's a small fandom and if people are talking about it, I think it's my business, lol.

thank you for excusing fics inspired by lyrics from your condemnation

I kinda had to, or else condemn my own fics. The more recent ones incorporate lyrics at the beginning, just to give a taste of what the fic's about.

The ones I have a problem with are where the story directly revolves around a song, because they're banal and uninspired and generally completely OOC. *shudders*

For what it's worth? Well, quite a lot, actually. That a few people I admire and adore are also in the same situation does help. Because in RL, I'm surrounded by people who are in relationships or have been and even though I know it's nothing to be ashamed of, I kinda end up wondering why I don't have someone of my own.

I know I don't need a partner for my life to be fulfilling but that seems to be the general belief in society and it drives me nuts 'coz that attitude just makes me feel inadequate. Especially around Valentine's Day, ugh.

Hermione forever *smushes her*

:D Made of win. *nodnod*
Btw, did you look at the fanvid? It's pretty amazing, I love the song so much and it works well there.

it's odd but i sometimes walk past open windows in my bra and don't even notice it until the apartment complex manager goes "yeah, the maintance guys are talking again..." ...

Lmao, you exhibitionist, you! ROFL.
But if you're in an apartment, a few floors up off the ground, you wouldn't really expect anyone to see you, so I don't think it's that weird. Might scandalize a few birds, but how are you to know when maintenance dudes are around? :P You have the right to (un)dress however makes you feel comfortable in your own place, FFS!

[identity profile] kat-rowe.livejournal.com 2009-11-23 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
Castle's an utter doll. I missed a lot of season 1 so don't know the ex but, if he was already a famous author when they divorced, she must have walked away with a chunk of change

:) TLW was good but i had other priorities at the time *shrugs* Sunny's a doll

I've only had 2 fics that revolved directly around a song and one was a character listening on the radio and being struck by it. the other had the main character actually singing a song but the whole point of that was that it was so completely outside of his normal range of expression that it was significant because it was bizarre ... other than that, it's only ever been a line or two here or there inspiring a fic (I've got an epic-length Sanctuary WiP inspired by the refrain of a Michelle Branch song that I think'll be great *crosses fingers*)

"I kinda end up wondering why I don't have someone of my own."

It's been my experience that most people really change and sacrifice to make their relationships work. I think it takes more courage and confidence to remain true to yourself.

*pets you* Look at Valentines Day like I do. I call it "Day Before 50% Off Chocolate at the Store Day"

*pets Hermione*

I didn't sit through the vid. I have a hard time listening to that song. The Humane Society here has a commercial with it in the background and some seriously distressing images of abused animals.

I spent almost the last 3 years in a 4th-story appt, 2 or 3 years before that in a house on a recessed lot, and in a basement appt before that. So I could walk around starkers if I so desired (which I seldom did because I get cold easily). Unfortunately, 3 or 4 months ago I moved into a smaller appt which happens to be ground-level. Which is when the maintanance guys started talking ;p They knew I sometimes answered the door in a bathrobe. Now they know why...

Granted, I've always felt Westerners assign too much significance to partial or total nudity *shrugs*

*hugs you*

[identity profile] woodchoc-magnum.livejournal.com 2009-11-18 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
OMG I'VE TOTALLY HAD THAT SAME EXPERIENCE!! With the near nudity and the strange person walking by - we had our house painted and they set up... um.. I want to say... the word I'm looking for which is... I can't remember but anyway to work on the second floor they needed these um thingies set up around the house and one day I was in the shower and the towels I had blocking the windows FELL DOWN just as the painter walked by. CUE MY HORROR.

You were asking about what three things I wanted to do before I die? Well, one of my ambitions just became to ace the quiz once more and earn a shiny Snape banner! :D

WOOOOHOOO! lol

Re the calendar, I was going to say that one of the pictures looked a tad like Gandalf, but that was obviously wrong. *facepalm*

Other than those…I’d have to say…SONG FICS. I have never found a single well-written, in-character song-fic.

*JAWDROP*

Me too. Yes. ME TOO.

Re #5 - see my number 5 here. :) Right there with you, sister. *huggles*

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-11-23 12:51 am (UTC)(link)

*FLAILYFLAILDOM* DUDE, THAT STORY IS MORE SCARRING AND TRAUMATIZING THAN MINE. *shudders*

Was he actually looking at you?! God, that'd freak me out so much. Gah! I hope you had a towel handy to preserve your modesty! *squishes*

[Randomly, I hate the fact that our new bathroom has clear shower walls instead of the safe brick walls and black shower curtain at our last house]

You were asking about what three things I wanted to do before I die? Well, one of my ambitions just became to ace the quiz once more and earn a shiny Snape banner! :D

WOOOOHOOO! lol

Oy! *eyes you suspiciously* Was that a hint of sarcastic enthusiasm in there? :P
I may not have lofty ambitions, but here's hoping. I think I did fairly well in the quiz last Friday, I'll find out tomorrow if I scored the banner. *quivers*

Re the calendar, I was going to say that one of the pictures looked a tad like Gandalf, but that was obviously wrong. *facepalm*

Um. *snickers* That is a running joke in the Buffy/HP crossovers I've read, yes. I take it you're not familiar with the fandom?

Other than those…I’d have to say…SONG FICS. I have never found a single well-written, in-character song-fic.

*JAWDROP*

Me too. Yes. ME TOO.

*high-fives* OUR MINDS ARE IN SYNC, BB.
Though I maintain that there's nothing wrong with quoting a song at the beginning of the fic. *nodnod*

I posted a Mentalist fic this morning using two song quotes, actually, because they were in my head as I was writing it and I think it's an interesting detail to add, so yeah. [Also, there's no way I'm intellectual enough to look up proper, thinky quotes a la CM that apply to the fic]

Re #5 - see my number 5 here. :) Right there with you, sister. *huggles*

I never realized how many people were in my boat as well. I won't say that it makes me feel better because leaving aside issues of independence and whatnot, I think it'd probably be better if people were in happy, satisfying relationships, but...I'm not alone! I'm not a freak! Whee!

[identity profile] woodchoc-magnum.livejournal.com 2009-11-24 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
hope you had a towel handy to preserve your modesty! *squishes*

Thankfully I was able to scream and cover!

Oh, and you have to download CM this week. It's the 100th episode. This is your heads up. :)

Oy! *eyes you suspiciously* Was that a hint of sarcastic enthusiasm in there? :P

Never! Snape banners are... awesome? I'm gonna go with awesome.

I take it you're not familiar with the fandom?

Harry Potter? Not at all. I've never even read the books. I used to hate Harry Potter the way I now hate Twilight because of all the hype about it. Now Harry Potter is on my good list even though I've never read it, because I'm all about hating the Twihards.

Though I maintain that there's nothing wrong with quoting a song at the beginning of the fic. *nodnod*

That is indeed acceptable.

Also, there's no way I'm intellectual enough to look up proper, thinky quotes a la CM that apply to the fic

I've never understood where people have access to all the deep quotes they seem to use. I just write the story and post. No quote necessary!

I'm not alone! I'm not a freak! Whee!

Not at all. :)

[identity profile] carolune04.livejournal.com 2009-11-18 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
You've already sent out your xmas cards?? Holy fuck I haven't even *made* mine yet..damn I better get on the ball.

Oh and totally agree with your #1 answer..and your reason's why too!

"The other problem is that I ship all of my favorite characters, so that makes me a home-wrecker in my own eyes. Ack! I could never imagine splitting up Mulder and Scully"
LOL that's funny. Oh Mulder & Scully how I miss you two..

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-11-23 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, but if you're making yours, that's totally understandable. Mine are always store-bought, so uncreative...

Really, Castle is the dream dude. He's eye candy, rich as, and sensitive and witty! *squishes him* Why are all the good men fictional characters?!

Also, I may be a little neurotic about them this year. The past two years, I waited til like, the week before Christmas to send them, so as soon as it hit November, I was all 'MUST GET READY RIGHT THE FRAK NOW', lol.

LOL that's funny. Oh Mulder & Scully how I miss you two..

Funny but true! I mean, I couldn't imagine stealing Jane away from Lisbon or breaking any of my ships up just to insert my undeserving self into one character's place, I'd feel so unworthy!

Also, yes. I want another movie. *wibbles* XF 2 wasn't all that amazing, we can't let the series fizzle out on that note! [Although I did love Mulder and Scully on the boat, with Mulder being manly and doing the rowing while she's chilling in this bikini!]

[identity profile] carolune04.livejournal.com 2009-11-23 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Why are all the good men fictional characters"
Well Nathan seems to be a bit like his character Castle..so that 1 good man.

OMG I just looked at my calander & realised that it's like the end of Nov. Crap I really do need to get my ass into gear lol

That's nice of you thinking about your ship over you..awww how sweet..but what if you just threw yourself in the mix? ;)

I was watching my blu-ray FTF on sat..well I was really just watching the sp. features ie THE KISS. I know I want another movie too!! Yes, I loved that too and how they waved up at the camera!!

[identity profile] luisa-f.livejournal.com 2009-11-18 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Remember girls, the important lesson to learn from Harry Potter, you are nothing unless you are some guy's little woman. I can't believe they included that useless twat Ginny but not Hermione.

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-11-19 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
*snorts* ITA with all that. What adds insult to injury is not only did they leave off Hermione and include Ginny- whose sole trait involves being obsessed with Harry and flirting with other boys to make him jealous or assert her feminity or some crap- but they had Lavendar TWICE. Exactly what contribution has she made to the series that entitles her to that over Hermione?!

Btw. You know I love you, and I don't mean to diss you but I am curious- you hate the gender!fail of HP, but we've been talking about wanting to see the Twilight movie lately, and I was wondering what you liked about that series? 'coz Bella isn't exactly that much more useful or independent than Ginny, so if you're a fan, I was wondering what you saw in her that I don't? [Again stressing that I don't judge your tastes and I'm only interested in your POV]

[identity profile] luisa-f.livejournal.com 2009-11-20 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Don't worry, I've asked myself that same question a thousand times. There are many aspects in Twilight that should make me hate these books.

Bella is the exact kind of female character I've always hated, and I've never been into romance books. I can take romance in small doses, as part of a much larger range of issues, but as the central theme it bores me.

I guess for me it comes as a matter of expectations, I expected so much more from Rowling and I felt let down. Harry Potter didn't start out as a romance series but romance ended up feeling as its sole focus. And it felt in the end that many chances were missed for the making of something that could have been epic.

So the HP fail hit me on a personal level because I loved those books like no other and it was like losing a friend, you know. Realizing all my expectations, and all the energy invested was for naught. But it was my fault for not seeing I was setting my expectations too high.

With Twilight it was easier to look past the failures because a) I'd been warned, unlike with HP with Twilight I knew very well what I was getting myself into. And b) There wasn't any emotional investment, no srs business. And that made it so much easier to let go of my preconceived notions.

I mean, I read them and I couldn't believe I was reading that kind of book, what am I doing? And yet for the first time I was able to enjoy something without trying to find every fault, it was quite liberating actually.

[identity profile] muzzy-olorea.livejournal.com 2009-11-18 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Rick Castle! Good choice and I like your reasons.

I wouldn't worry about it hun. I've never had a relationship either (except with my laptop ....) :)

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-11-23 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Hee, I do so love him! Usually the men are secondary to the women, in my estimation, but he's become just as important to me as Beckett. I ♥ him so much!

I've never had a relationship either (except with my laptop ....) :)

*clings*
And also, lol. Next time I'll be like, 'I'm not single! I have a satisfactory relationship with my laptop. It makes me much happier than any real partner, for serious!'

[identity profile] dragonladyk.livejournal.com 2009-11-19 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
THERE'S NO HERMIONE. *massive!flail* WTF? WTF? HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!

Well, there are ten pictures on the back and there are twelve months to a year, so-- maybe her shots are meant to be a surprise and she gets two months?

OTOH, that would be by far the least severe gender!fail of Harry Potter history.

DragonLady

[identity profile] borg-princess.livejournal.com 2009-11-19 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Damn it, you make a good point. I'm trying to convince myself that it would not be a good idea to waste money buying one just to see what the hidden two pictures are. It's weird that they wouldn't put those on the back, I hadn't even considered that because calendars generally show all the pictures. Huh.

But here's another version of the calendar:

I can't tell whether that chick on the left in the second row is meant to be Hermione. I don't think it looks like her, but that could be my failing eyesight. What do you think?

that would be by far the least severe gender!fail of Harry Potter history.

*snorts* Good point. But this felt like the straw that broke the camel's back. That this would happen, on top of all the other indignities. Grr!

No, that's Lavender.

Okay. Massive fail. Let's light Warner Brothers on fire.

AHA. I thought so. *glares*

I'm not sure if you're kidding me there, but I am in love with the idea of looking up the arson eps of CM to research the most efficient and hi-tech ways to set a foolproof fire. *smirks malevolently* They're going down.

I thought a tactical retreat would be more effective than standing rooted to the spot, screaming. [God, I hate when people do that on tv- sure, honey, finding a body is really traumatic but why don't you shut your mouth in case you draw the killer's attention and just run and find help, y/y?]

BUWAHAHAHA.
This. Just in case you hadn't noticed. Because I was talking to my brother about stuff like this just this morning, and the thing that annoys me most is the classic damsel in distress bit. Because honestly, must you sit around screaming and shrieking and waiting for somebody to save you? Can't you just, oh I dunno, DO something? Ugh.

[I’ve done it myself with my TLW WiP of Doom]

I C U THAR, WiP of Doom. *tackles*

And honestly, you're in fine form tonight, because this had me giggling my butt off. And also, is so ridiculously true. Plus, who listens to the radio anymore? xD
I kid, I kid. I do.

And finally, I'm totally gonna love anything you send me, so breathe hun.

OMG, IT'S SO SEXIST, UGH.
Seriously, do we ever see DUDES screaming at the top of their lungs? Is this a mere oversight or deliberate denigration of our gender? I'm inclined to think the latter. *scowls* I know if I stumble across a corpse, I'm dialing for help straight off and getting the hell out of there. It's not heroic, but at least it's not cringe-worthy.

*snorts* I can't shake you off my trail! You're as tenacious as T-rex! A mama T-rex whose egg I've made off with!

*g* Why, thank you, sweetie, I am ever so flattered. *smug grin*

Heh, seriously, I love that you gave me carte blanch, basically. It's so freeing! Knowing I could scrawl something on a piece of scrap paper and mail that to you and you wouldn't mind, lol. [I wouldn't, but it's good to know it's an option]

This. I think just for that, I'm going to make one of the guys in my novel discover a body and scream like a little girl. Nevermind that it's supposed to be this whole family oriented story. Ou! Maybe that's how I can work in the traveling shovel of death from the NaNoWriMo prompt pages.. Hmm...
*is on crack*

Maybe you should've used the Marguerite icon then? Hmm? Although technically you keep mentioning it, so my theory is that perhaps you subconsciously want me to nag you about it.

*grin* We should totally try that at some point just to say that we have...
