I've had so many family functions lately, it's exhausting. The past three weekends have been devoted to some occasion or another. And we've got a dinner this weekend in Melbourne for a relative I don't even know that well but am compelled to attend and socialize with anyway. *groans*

Anyway, we just had the twins' 21 birthday dinner- despite the fact that their birthday was in December, and was already celebrated back then. Their father just came over for a visit from Samoa for Netty's grad and so they decided to have a dual grad/birthday celebration so that he didn't feel like he missed out because he couldn't fly over for their actual birthday. Even though Amu's birthday was last Friday, so that would've been a more timely event to celebrate but we didn't end up doing anything for that...probably celebrate it on Christmas. *eyeroll*

My friends and I managed to get kicked out of Westfield by the security guards. *eyeroll*

OMG, such hardcore rebels. *snickers* )

My parents are super paranoid and I try to humor them although it really irritates me how insanely over-protective they can be. So I decided not to tell them about this drunk guy that spontaneously jumped in the car with us. We were on our way to see Star Trek [to much moaning and groaning from the non-sci-fi-fans of the group] and this guy just pushed his way into the car beside me.

I thought from his familiar manner that he was a friend of someone in the car so I didn't make a fuss. The guy reeked of alcohol- he generously offered to share, though we declined- and after some polite, if rambling, conversation, he announced he'd join us. Katherine actually started pulling away from the curb when he changed his mind at the last minute and hopped out again. So random!

After he left, we realized that none of us had any idea who this guy was, and she had been totally ready to take a stranger along to the movies with us. *facepalm* Okay, so he was a harmless drunk and I wasn't really scared or anything, but the implications...it was so easy for him to get in the car, it just freaks me out that he could've been the less pleasant 'angry drunk' or like, a serial killer seeking a carful of young victims...*shudders* Doesn't help I just saw that Criminal Minds ep where the unsub was randomly slaughtering people in their cars... *meep*

The Star Trek movie- COMPLETELY AWESOME. If you haven't seen it, YOU NEED TO GO DO THAT RIGHT NOW.

It was funny, I kept thinking that Kirk reminded me of someone and then halfway through, it hit me...CAM MITCHELL. They bear a superficial resemblence, and every word out of his mouth, his intonation, his mannerisms, it all reminded me of Cam's attitude.

Also, THIS!

No wonder Cam and Chris's Kirk were intertwined in my head...Cam played pseudo!Kirk in 200! [This scene should've been longer- why couldn't they cut that damn puppet skit and beefed up this and the Farscape spoofs? *pouts*]

Thoughts on the movie )
