I know I have a bunch of Hermione and/or Snape fans on my flist, so I’m going to appeal for some help. If you have any links to some pretty wallpapers, can you share them with me? I’d like to get a t-shirt printed for each of them, since they’re such a massive part of my life and I’d like to wear my heart on my sleeve, so to speak. :P [Yes, I know I butchered that metaphor, just go with it]

Here are some examples of previous prints I had done for SGA and CM )
Please keep in mind that these are going to be worn in public, so you know. Keep it PG. :P

Also, while I have your attention, if you have any ideas for something character-appropriate that I could use in place of the ‘post a comment/X-number comments’, let me know. I suck at that. It took me months to come up with TLW-relevant phrases, and I’m so stuck with HP.

This shouldn't disappoint me so much but it does- Rachelle Lefevre is dumped from Twilight, so that Bryce Dallas Howard can take over the role of Victoria in Eclipse. One of the best scenes in New Moon was with Rachelle, running through the woods to Hearing Damage [epic song!] and pwning the werewolves. She was just kickass as Victoria, and I hate to see her leave. I think it’s supremely sucky that BDH turned down the role initially because it wasn’t big enough for her, apparently, but now that the franchise is so huge and the role is expanded in the third book, now it’s good enough for her. Poor Rachelle. *squishes her*

I was surprised and pleased at this short one-line review to an old ST:V fic I wrote years ago.

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2655392/1/The_Early_Bird
This story makes me love Seven even more ^-^

How shocking! When I think back to my Voyager days, I mainly recall hating Seven’s guts. Heck, I actually wrote a parody fic killing her off just to get it off my chest! So the review made me decide to re-read my own fic. *winces*

I so wanted to be able to claim I wrote it around, like, 13, as an excuse for any suckitude, but I was actually 17 and that’s less excusable. Still, re-reading it wasn’t as horrible as I had feared. It was- decent, I’ll give myself some credit. Not entirely in character, but I didn’t butcher them. I kinda- liked it. How unexpected…

Oh, I miss the days when I wrote prolific amounts of fic. I mean, a 5000 one-shot, that’s just unbelievable, I’m way too lazy to write half that these days!

Doctor Who:

Brief thoughts on the first two episodes. ) ---

After watching The Red Box, during which my appreciation for The Mentalist took yet another beating, with the introduction of the ghastly Madeline Hightower [honestly, what a high school mean girl she is, she's not so much a character as a caricature conjured up to inject some unnecessary tension and conflict into the plot but resoundingly fails to enhance the show in any way at all], I yearningly thought back to the magnificient Agent Shaw of Castle's epic two-parter, Tick Tick Tick and Boom.

Jordan Picspam: Part One.

Here is how you write a wonderful alpha female who clashes with the show's lead female but manages to remain sympathetic and likeable!  )

Another poem:

Gifts

‘I will bring you love,’ said the young lover,
‘A glad light to dance in your dark eye.
Pendants I will bring of the white bone,
And gay parrot feathers to deck your hair.’

But she only shook her head.

‘I will put a child in your arms,’ he said.
‘Will be a great headman, great rain-maker.
I will make remembered songs about you
That all tribes in all the wandering camps
Will sing forever.’

But she was not impressed.

‘I will bring you the still moonlight of the lagoon
And steal for you the singing of all the birds;
I will bring down the stars from heaven to you,
And put the bright rainbow into your hand.’

‘No,’ she said, ‘bring me tree-grubs.’

LMAO! I love it, the sentimental suitor and the practical, efficient female! Hee...

The lame.

LJ!fail. I tried for ages to post a damn poll and it simply refused to work. *glares* Why meeee? It has a grudge against me, I swear. *woes* And now it won't let me post half of this entry because it's TOO FRAKKING LARGE, apparently. WTF? It's just text, like, half a page, but that's too taxing. *head!splodes*

Oh! How remiss of me, in all the aggravation LJ caused me earlier, I totally forgot to thank all the lovely people for the pretty snowflakes! ^_^ I’m touched by your thoughtfulness, you guys. *huggleglomps*

-

The amusing.

Stephen Jenner's "TwiLite: A Parody."

Love between a teenage girl and a vampire can be a beautiful thing. Then again, it can get a little ugly. Just ask Stella Crow. Stella is a clumsy but otherwise ordinary girl whose life takes a radical turn the moment she meets Edweird. Though perfect on the outside, Edweird Sullen is remarkably unrefined on the inside. He also happens to be a one hundred year old vampire, trapped in the body of a teenage boy, who has yet to finish high school. Nonetheless, Stella is unconditionally smitten with him. But not everything is rosy in this gloomiest of towns. Edweird's enemies have sworn to put a tragic end to their romance. Against all odds, the bond between Stella and Edweird is nearly strong enough for their love to survive. Most love stories between an impossibly handsome vampire and an ungainly young woman have a magical ending. This one - not so much.

-

The pretty.

So everyone’s squeeing over the Jello!glee with the spoiler pic of them from Rose Colored Glasses floating around. *bounces* I give you a blast from the past with- Castle and Beckett.

From the season 1 dvds. Why did nobody tell me about this?!

[Under no circumstances will I endorse CASKETT. I’m sorry, shippers, but no way in hell is that romantic or appropriate, okay? What were you thinking?]

I'm excited! I'm now a beta for this SSHG fic, The Professor's Discretion, mwahaha!
I was moping at the diminishing amount of fic left to read, which seriously sends me into a depression every time I finish gorging on my new obsession's available fic [it was painful post-TLW, let me tell you, 'coz at least with newer ones like Mentalist and CM, etc. I'm fairly sure people will post sometime in the future but that hope ain't there with older fandoms *sniffles*] and now I have something new to fixate on. My OCD is pleased at the chance to nitpick like crazy, hee. Editing is so much easier than writing, I gotta say. >:D

Since I haven't tried to brainwash anyone into my beloved ship lately: [except odakota_rose. *eyes hopefully*]

A hilarious scene between headmistress!Hermione and Snape, from the amazing Splintered and Broken:

The Interview )

I usually don't read post-Voldemorte-wins fics on general principle. [It's a category bursting with rape!fics, which tend to put me off. It's usually exploited by writers who want to indulge in dark, perverted abuse and glorious sadism, so kthxbai]

But this fic is so brilliant in the way it draws parallels between the victorious!Voldemorte era and the Ministry era, the Death Eaters and the Order of the Phoenix [one man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter, y/y?], and familiar characters are recast in different roles. 'A lot of this story is about reoccurring patterns in a new generation', as the author says- there is Hermione as the new Dumbledore, pulling strings behind the scenes and coordinating the resistance, there is a new Severus, a new Sirius and new Harry Potter...in an unexpected but poignant way.

This fic corrects all the gender!fail of the HP!verse. It wasn't intentional, apparently, but women ended up being cast in most of the crucial roles and not in a gratuitous 'super!perfect!role-model!strong-female-character' way, not the irritating 'women are superior and males are not fit to lick their shoes' way, but in believable extensions of their canon personalities, only with all their potential explored and fulfilled. I mean, minor character Lavendar is still opposed to Hermione but written in a way that makes her POV understandable and sympathetic.

And by far, the most rewarding take is on Ginny. She's cast as this tragic character, who was never fully understood in canon, who had much more depth than we ever realized, who hid her darker streak and played the innocent because it was what Harry needed. And it's so beautifully done, it hurts.

Re: Ginny )

Last week was a lot of fun, for a few different reasons. For one, I finally got to hang out with Jacob, an old high school friend. He and his sister, Katherine, are the only friends I've managed to make and keep for more than a year, although it's unfortunate that we only get together three or four times a year, but I'll take what I can get.

cut for trivial chatter )

The other high point of my week was seeing New Moon.

Surprising, I'm sure, given that I think most of you know my feelings about Twilight. Safe to say…I’m not a fan. I’m an anti-fan, actually, I find a great deal of amusement in reading essays and sporkings by people who tear it apart and expose its massive fail with wit and snark a-plenty. But the movie was a great deal of fun, even if I still have no more respect for the books than I ever did. *shrugs*

I caught an ep of it yesterday and holy crap, but I didn't think anything could rival Twilight for worst love triangle.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but there IS something more irrational and ridiculous than the Edward/Bella/Jacob angst-o-rama!  )
---

Randomly? I read someone's comment about how they pictured Keanu Reeves as Snape, rather than Alan Rickman, and it reminded me of this:

'k, I loved Keanu first, but I love Alan Rickman [I can't just call him Alan, for some reason, lol] best .
I've now watched Sense and Sensibility half a dozen times-I just wish I'd had that massive crush on him back when we actually studied the bloody book and watched the movie in Year 11 Lit, I would've been so much more inspired, damn it!

And I've seen Dogma about a dozen times. I can't help it, 'tis extremely crude and foul at many points, but it sitll has me in gigglefits all the same.

Bethany: What are you?
Metatron: I'm pissed off, is what I am! Do you go around drenching everybody that comes into your room with flame-retardant chemicals? No wonder you're single.
[Ahaha! This is the APPROPRIATE reaction to finding someone in your room watching you sleep, a'right?]

Btw, I have a sneaking suspicion I saw an edited version, though- I looked up some quotes and there were mentions of a nun and some other randoms and exchanges I didn't see. If they cut any Alan Rickman scenes from the one I watched, I'm going to be pissed off myself. *frowns*

Comment and I'll give you a list of 4 people. You have to chose which to marry, which to shag, which to snog, and which to throw off a cliff.

Characters provided by the lovely kat_rowe.

Marry- Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)- because she complements me perfectly. We're both witty bookish types, can't you see the magic happening here? :P
Throw off a cliff- Spencer Reid (Criminal Minds)- because he is the center of all angsty whump everywhere, like a moth to the flame. *nodnod*
Shag-  Carson Beckett (SGA)- the uber adorable Scottish doctor! With dimples, omg! How can I resist? I gotta tell you, meeting Paul at the recent con has made me love Carson even more. I watched some classic SGA over the weekend, totally love him and Rodney's banter... ^_^
Snog- Kate Beckett (Castle)- do I need a reason? The woman is stunning!

GUYS. OMG, OMG, OMG. CHECK THIS OUT.

About three things I was absolutely certain. First, Edwart was most likely my soul mate, maybe. Second, there was a vampire part of him–which I assumed was wildly out of his control–that wanted me dead. And third, I unconditionally, irrevocably, impenetrably, heterogeneously, gynecologically, and disreputably wished he had kissed me.

And thus Belle Goose falls in love with the mysterious and sparkly Edwart Mullen in the Harvard Lampoon’s hilarious send-up of Twilight.

Pale and klutzy, Belle arrives in Switchblade, Oregon looking for adventure, or at least an undead classmate. She soon discovers Edwart, a super-hot computer nerd with zero interest in girls. After witnessing a number of strange events–Edwart leaves his tater tots untouched at lunch! Edwart saves her from a flying snowball!–Belle has a dramatic revelation: Edwart is a vampire. But how can she convince Edwart to bite her and transform her into his eternal bride, especially when he seems to find girls so repulsive?

Complete with romance, danger, insufficient parental guardianship, creepy stalker-like behavior, and a vampire prom, Nightlight is the uproarious tale of a vampire-obsessed girl, looking for love in all the wrong places.

o.O >_< :DDDDD

How spectacular is this?! I WANT. *dies laughing*

[PS. Can anyone tell me how to bloody block quote? It would make quoting large blocks of text so much easier]

I know I've dropped out of sight for the past three weeks, and believe me, it's hurt me terribly. I miss you guys so much just over the weekends when I can't get online, so you can imagine the withdrawal pain of a few weeks away from 'home'.

The inter-trimester break flew by so quick [I hate the new 'trimester' system, it feels like I'm talking about a pregnancy, 'Oh, I'm in my second trimester right now', it's like, wtf?!] and was punctuated by recurring attacks of the dreaded cold. It's as though the universe loves to slap down on my happy, like, it's too much for me to just enjoy my holidays, I've gotta struggle through exams and then come down with the cold that just won't quit. I'm still battling the lingering effects, ugh. I got to enjoy a few days at Ma's house, got sick, moved house, got sick again [or the cold worsened, I'm not sure if it was the same one or not] and then stayed with Katherine and Jacob...

And now uni has resumed, and you'll be seeing a lot more of me. Don't be surprised if you get replies to comments from last month, 'k? I'd hate for you to think I didn't appreciate your input. ;P [Shush, luxuria_oceanus, it's perfectly okay not to be one of those accomplished 'reply within three days' people- three days, three weeks, to-may-to, to-mah-to...]

Apropos of nothing...I love that Jane has a picture of Lisbon on his phone under his list of contacts. And the expression on her face is just priceless.

Can't you see him waving his phone around, 'Come on, Lisbon, smile for the camera' and she just gives him this long-suffering stare and that's the picture he uses, lol. Someone needs to fic this, it's such a cute scene in my head, lol. [Also, for the last time, this proves it's TERESA, without the 'h', kthxbai]

Frakking AWESOME vid. *hypnotic eyes* Watch iiiit. @.@

It splices the scenes between Buffy and Twilight so well- apart from differences in the lighting, which can't really be helped, you'd honestly think they were filmed like together this! The scripting is tight and entertaining and the plot, omg, the plot rocks hardcore! If Bella had half of Buffy's spirit, the series would've been so much better. 'Being stalked isn't really a big turn on for girls.'  *high fives* Now there is relatively stable and well-adjusted!

I spent the weekend debating the worst points of the Twilight series with Jacob- who actually read all the books, even though he kept going, 'I hate Bella. Dump her, dump her! She's so annoying, she needs to die!' and yet he kept trucking through, lmao. Such perserverence. Btw, this was the friend that regifted me his copy of Twilight because he hated it so much and needed to justify spending that money by handing it over to me as a birthday present. *eyeroll* Thoughtful, no?

The parents are such bores. My father and I were sitting in the car outside Safeway waiting for mother to get some groceries when suddenly we see these two kids bolt out of the store, frantically racing along with a loaded trolley.

'Where are they going in such a hurry?' he wonders. 'Maybe they stole it,' I suggest. JOKINGLY, mind you, but the next second, this check out chick marches out in search of the thieves.

They've ducked around a car, out of sight, and she manages to walk down the length of the car park, looking left and right EXCEPT FOR WHEN SHE PASSED THE CAR THEY WERE CONCEALED BEHIND. *headdesk* It was quite hilarious. You'll note neither my father nor I involved ourselves in the proceedings- he was muttering dark prophecies of these troublesome teens bashing someone over the head, so you know...a policy of non-intereference, not just practiced by the Ancients!

Then another guy comes out to join the search and he pinpoints their location with impressive accuracy. The funny thing is that they've gotten into the car and crouched down at the back, obviously hoping to remain unseen, but he just stands there, pointing and ranting at them til they sheepishly get out of the car. BWAHAHA. I really wanted to stay and see how things played out, watch them get chewed out, see if the cops were called, but mother returned and then we were off. No curiosity whatsoever, those two, hmph.

The dinner on Saturday...rollercoaster ride before we ever even left; the parents had a huge argument and at one stage we weren't going to attend any more but they managed to patch things up and we made it after all. I was kinda disappointed- I had two episodes each of Mentalist and CM, so I was all ready for a cosy night in. Alas...

Dinner was crazy. Never go out with a bunch of Samoans, they are such a rowdy bunch. Old people are supposed to be sedate and mature, right? But they were singing at deafening levels, they pushed aside the furniture for some traditional dancing- and one lady got up on her chair to do a bit of a hula, omg- they were accidentally breaking glasses...yeah. I lost my voice because it was so hard to converse with my cousins over the adults' ruckus. *eyeroll* I thought it was funny that the restaurant people closed the door to our room, I guess because we were disturbing the other patrons, lol.

The WTF moment of the evening- when 'Aunty Flo' [she's like, my grandmother's cousin or something, I have no idea] asked us girls if we'd read Twilight because people at work were recommending it. *horror* Apparently it's like LORD OF THE RINGS, they said to her. *dies* I- I don't even know how to respond to that level of self-delusion.

Let's move on to fantasy of actual worth. I said a while back that Jim Butcher's Codex Alera is the best fantasy series ever. I stand by that, though I must split hairs in order to declare that in my not-so-humble opinion, Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels books are the most awesome urban fantasy books ever. I just finished Magic Strikes and am fighting the urge to cry at the devastating news that the next book won't be out til NEXT YEAR. *sobs*

But look! Pretty cover art is pretty! :D

As if you don't want to read that. Come on, badass chick with a sword? A fierce looking lion? [Although I'm overcome with the inappropriate urge to coo and stroke it, bury my face in its mane and take rides on its back like it's Aslan and won't rip my face off for the insult]

Go ooon. Read this excerpt from the first book, Magic Bites and tell me that doesn't capture your imagination. Borrow it from the library or just buy it, I promise you will not be disappointed. Heck, I'll even buy it from you if for some unfathomable reason, it's not to your liking. Just read it because it is the most frakking fantastic thing I've read in years. *glees* We have magic and technology co-existing in a world with shapeshifters of all varieties and a fascinating and really original spin on the whole vampire concept, starring a witty, kick-ass heroine who uses brains and brawn to overcome all obstacles, with a quip at the ready, no matter the situation. I love her more than I've loved anyone in a book before. *worships*

Lenka )
Yay for Lenka being recognized! I'm totally in love with her music and it's great that she's becoming more famous.

It's a little ironic that I used to *facepalm* look down on Australians because I always thought anything they could do, Americans could do better...*runs to avoid a lynching* You cannot compare City Homicide or Underbelly to Criminal Minds or The Mentalist, come on, be honest, the overseas shows are vastly superior and I never understand all the vitriolic anti-American letters in the paper, I wonder at the lunatics who believe we'd be better off without American shows! :O

And now, fate has the last laugh. My favorite singer and actress are Australian. *shakes head* I can admit when I was wrong, I'm on my knees begging forgiveness at my prejudices...

---
Twilight stars Robert Pattinson and Kristin Stewart )

Twilight for the lulz. As much as I hate the books/movie, the actors make me crack up laughing. I have to quote this because it is too hilarious, really:

'...given that he's a vampire and her blood smells unbearably delicious to him, their passion becomes, as MTV put is, as violent and intense as "something out of a Michael Douglas sex thriller". Pattinson and Stewart bonded for their deadly lustful liaison by watching Last Tango in Paris together [he also gave her a copy of Virgil's Doomed Love] and revelling in the suspense. "Whenever I kiss her, I try to kill her," says Pattinson. "I always want to kill her." For Stewart, the suspense meant game on. "Bella is a total sadomasochist. I love that"...'

I am so in love with this clip. It starts off slow, like a re-enactment of the movie with added snark-'if you were smart, you'd stay away from me', 'well, let's say for argument's sake that I'm not smart...'- then it just explodes into hilarious fun.

'k, so a week after the fact, I finally managed to see Blood on the Scales.

Ugh. I’m currently occupied by nasty thoughts about the blonde that blocked my way onto the bus, standing in front of the door while she hunted for change, then took my favorite seat. I hate people that do that, I don’t know how hard it is to have your money ready before you line up for the bus- if you’re going to hold other people up, then go to the back of the frakking line. And don’t take their favorite seats after being so rude! >:[

But that's nothing compared to my laptop problems. I've been trying to save some of my crap on dvds so I can delete them off the laptop in the hopes that it will operate better. Since my screensaver folder is about 5 or 6 GB, I figured I could sacrifice that for the greater good. Except my laptop refuses to burn dvds all of a sudden. It was working fine on Monday, but now, all of a sudden, it spits out the dvd halfway through the burning process and announces that it doesn't have enough space. I shove the dvd back in and all of a sudden, it's apparently only got 700 mb of space instead of the 4.4 GB I KNOW it has. Still, I figure that's better than nothing and try again- only the laptop has another hissy fit and rejects it and the next few discs I try. WTF IS WRONG WITH IT? WHY DOES IT HATE ME? *FLAILS*

My pet hate in BSG is the way that show never lets her win anything, it's always gotta come back and bite her in the ass somehow and she doesn't get a single victory that isn't a Pyrrhic victory. Yet, in spite of every single writer dedicating themselves to destroying her soul, she rebounds and increases her awesome with each trial. This picspam reminds me how much she pwns everyone on that show.

I've been watching season 6 of Buffy. And um...Willow's kind of an asshole. Actually, so's Buffy. Why do I find myself liking SPIKE more than the girls? Both these chicks are so awful with relationships. They both have someone that cares about them so much and they screw it all up. I actually blame Willow more because she's supposed to care about Tara and yet she violates her, apologizes and says it won't happen again, then promptly repeats her actions the second Tara leaves the house. WTF? With Spike and Buffy...well, that was always going to be messed up.

Whoa, actually, I'm getting Gossip Girl vibes again- Buffy/Spike=Chuck/Blair? O.o

The bad boy in love, the girl that refuses to admit the sex meant anything...yes, I'm getting very weird with these parallels, I know...and to compound the crackiness, I have to say, the first thought that popped into my head when I saw this pic of Chuck and Blair was 'OMG TWILIGHT?!' He'd make an awesome vampire, and Blair is a hell of a lot cooler than Bella, any day. I'd love to see Blair take Bella down, actually. *daydreams*

I've read all this stuff about how LJ's in trouble and the apocalypse is coming. I wasn't going to worry about it now til I heard more official sounding stuff, but figured, heyyy, why not save my journal on ljbook. I do it every now and then because it gives me a feeling of security.

But I've been trying all day and the blasted site won't let me save it because there are too many users currently using this site. Which makes me even more uneasy because then OMFG, THERE'S DEFINITELY SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT. *FLAILS*

On a more positive- or negative, lol, depending which way you look at it- I discovered the most wonderful new comm, i_hate_twilight, as well as one of the funniest recappers ever, who's bravely taken on the Twilight books and just slayed me with her humor.
