People. I meant to be organized this year and once again, I totally fail. *eyeroll* Big surprise.
Anyway, before I forget again, is there anyone that wants to exchange Christmas cards? I'd do one of those cool 'comments hidden' things except I have no clue how that works and LJ hates my guts, so I'd rather not risk experimenting at this stage...just PM me, if you feel like celebrating the Christmas spirit with me. ;D

Vampire Diaries
.

I caught an ep of it yesterday and holy crap, but I didn't think anything could rival Twilight for worst love triangle.

I mean, at least Edward and Jacob's lot both don't believe in snacking on humans, right? Edward may be morally questionable in other areas, but he doesn't harm humans.

Whereas the girl in Vampire Diaries [seriously, who writes in diaries these days? It's all about blogging, hello, modern world], who rather parallels Liz in Roswell when I think about it, except for being less awesome, is torn between a good vampire aka he who looks out for humans, and a bad vampire, aka he who murders people left, right and center.

O.O HOW HARD IS IT TO MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE?! The savior or the sadistic bastard? Oh, don't burst a brain cell, sweetie, what a struggle it must be to decide which brother is more worthy. *eyeroll*

She finally decides to break up with Stefan [can I just say I hate the way they pronounce his name? 'Ste-phun', shudder. It's like this former librarian I knew, Gabrielle, whose name was pronounced boring old 'Gabriel'. Seriously, why?] and she enacts this cliche 'woe is meeee' routine by sliding down the wall and sobbing her heart out, dear lord, MAKE IT STOP.

FFS, one day, she boldly declares that 'I'm not gonna be one of those pathetic girls whose world stops just because of some guy' anod now look at her! Pitiful! It's all about her! There are evil monsters running around targeting her friends and her first thought is the end of her romance, not the end of people's LIVES. I don't think even Bella was that selfish- her vampires were sparkly hippies, they weren't killing people like in this show! Who'd'a thunk it, someone who makes Bella Swan look smart. Huh.

This one awesome scene I wish had been played out in Twilight.

Damon: Your life is so pathetic.
Vicki: Yeah.
Damon: You are so damaged.  You don't have one hint of self esteem.
Vicki: Nope. None.
Damon: I think I know what can help you.
Vicki: What's that?
Damon: Death.
*snaps her neck*

LOLOLOL. Too bad it wasn't Elena's neck, heh.
---

Randomly? I read someone's comment about how they pictured Keanu Reeves as Snape, rather than Alan Rickman, and it reminded me of this:

'k, I loved Keanu first, but I love Alan Rickman [I can't just call him Alan, for some reason, lol] best .
I've now watched Sense and Sensibility half a dozen times-I just wish I'd had that massive crush on him back when we actually studied the bloody book and watched the movie in Year 11 Lit, I would've been so much more inspired, damn it!

And I've seen Dogma about a dozen times. I can't help it, 'tis extremely crude and foul at many points, but it sitll has me in gigglefits all the same.

Bethany: What are you?
Metatron: I'm pissed off, is what I am! Do you go around drenching everybody that comes into your room with flame-retardant chemicals? No wonder you're single.
[Ahaha! This is the APPROPRIATE reaction to finding someone in your room watching you sleep, a'right?]

Btw, I have a sneaking suspicion I saw an edited version, though- I looked up some quotes and there were mentions of a nun and some other randoms and exchanges I didn't see. If they cut any Alan Rickman scenes from the one I watched, I'm going to be pissed off myself. *frowns*

Meme.

Comment and I'll give you a list of 4 people. You have to chose which to marry, which to shag, which to snog, and which to throw off a cliff.

Characters provided by the lovely kat_rowe.

Marry- Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)- because she complements me perfectly. We're both witty bookish types, can't you see the magic happening here? :P
Throw off a cliff- Spencer Reid (Criminal Minds)- because he is the center of all angsty whump everywhere, like a moth to the flame. *nodnod*
Shag-  Carson Beckett (SGA)- the uber adorable Scottish doctor! With dimples, omg! How can I resist? I gotta tell you, meeting Paul at the recent con has made me love Carson even more. I watched some classic SGA over the weekend, totally love him and Rodney's banter... ^_^
Snog- Kate Beckett (Castle)- do I need a reason? The woman is stunning!

Snurched from sunkrux.

Alan Rickman is the best ever.....EVER!!!!!!! I love Sense and Sensibility sooooooo much. It did my "young woman who loves older men" heart good that Marianne ends up with Col. Brandon. When he is reading to her *swoon* I love that damn movie.

And Dogma is the best!!! I love Rufus, the 13th apostle left out of the Bible due to racism. Buddy Jesus.....it slays me. Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, its by far the best thing Kevin Smith has ever done.

I've discovered that there is no age limit to those who capture my affections. I mean, ALAN RICKMAN, for goodness sake, is how old? But I adore him liek whoa. I think he's so handsome and omg, my heart was breaking for him in S&S! I wanted to beat Marianne over the head and knock some sense into her. Why moon over some unattainable scoundrel who didn't care about her enough to fight for her when there's this noble, caring man who adores her? *flails*

I just wish that we could've seen more of their developing romance- she spent like, 80% of the movie not giving a damn about him and then all of a sudden, theyr'e married? *splutters* I feel cheated!

But god, Alan Rickman is amazing- that scene where she's recovering from her illness and he's about to leave the room and she calls out to him? That pause, the hesitation before he turns back to her, like he's steeling himself, trying not to read too much into her actions and then the surprise and cautious hope when she thanks him. He's so sweet! *snuggles Brandon*

Of course that poetry reading scene is one of my favorites. I don't much care for Marianne, to be honest, she spurned my beloved Brandon for far too long while chasing after younger empty-headed idiots, but when she expresses concern at him leaving, 'You will not be away too long?' I melt at that look on his face. He's so awed and pleased that she doesn't want to be parted from him for too long. *dies* Alan Rickman excels at the non-verbal side of acting, he conveys so much with the tiniest of actions. *sighs dreamily*

Yes, yes, I'll stop with the incessant fangirling now... :P

young woman who loves older men

*high fives* That's totally my thing, too! I absolutely love that dynamic, I'm not a big fan of young couples, I need an older dude who's experienced and savvy, not some young hothead with more enthusiasm than brains. *eyeroll*

Lol, Rufus! 'White folks only want to hear the good shit: life eternal, a place in God's Heaven. But as soon as they hear they're getting this good shit from a black Jesus, they freak. And that, my friends, is called hypocrisy. A black man can steal your stereo, but he can't be your Savior.' *cracks up laughing* This is the kind of comedy I appreciate, okay? Sure, they get gross a lot, but that sort of statement, so funny because it's true, I love it. :D

Yes, yes, yes to everything you said. And in Marianne's defense she was only 16 and allowed to be passionate and stupid most of the movie. Not to mention that Willoughby was a major hottie......I would have gone stupid for him as well. I love how in the book everyone assumed because Col. Brandon spent co much time with Elinor that they had a thing. It wasnt often, and still isnt, that male/female friendships are developed that well in fiction if the man is actually straight.

I am finding so many women are into older men.....I used to feel really alone in that. My friends used to make fun of me but there are a lot of us and that feels good.

Hypocrisy and irony make the world go round, unfortunately. Fortunately it also gives me much to laugh about.

Alan Rickman is the man :) Dogma is crude and gross but funny and none of the Alan Rickman (you're right; he's too dignified to just call "Alan" which sounds like your best friend's obnoxious older brother or something) scenes would have needed to be cut from any version that lasted more than 10 minutes, lol. I have this mental image of him doing the Snape air of superiority in that voice of his going "I'll do your little film since you need someone to convincingly be the Voice of God which my legion of fangirls informs me I am supremely suited to, but you will give these lines to other characters." *drops a folder the size of a small phone-book on the negotating table*

*high-fives* Indeed he is. ^_^ *fangirls him like crazy* And okay, thanks for reassuring me that none of his scenes would've been cut, I was fretting about that.

Also? LOL at that scenario of yours- epic win! Firstly, 'the Snape air of superiority' because HELL YES, Snape = superior, 'tis indisputable. And then the commanding image of Alan Rickman effortlessly bulldozing over any opposition to get his way... *daydreams* That would be so awesome to watch in action!

black-clad British dudes ftw :)

Yes Richard Armitage is Sir Guy of Gisburn (whatever) with his nasty "girly" hair for S3. He is a hottie, but not with that nasty girly hair. *vomits a little in her mouth*

Ha, I knew he looked familiar- for once, I wasn't all anal about it, I kept myself from googling him to check for sure, because once I divert myself, another few hours fly by and nothing's accomplished. *eyeroll* I don't get why guys have such a tough time with their hair, I rarely see a woman with awful hair, it's men that let themselves and the show down. *frowns* Call me sexist, but that's generally the case...

You know, shows usually beat up on the burly, muscled tough dudes of the show- like Morgan, for instance- I think they target Reid because he evokes all these protective instincts in us, y'know? It's their ploy to make us emotionally invested. *nodnod* Morgan gets injured, I shrug, like, 'Meh, he can deal with it', whereas with Reid, because he's so adorkable, there's all the sympathy and snuggles [from a hefty portion of the female audience anyway]

Lol. I don't think the writers could be anywhere near as wicked and evil as you with their to-do lists. Probably could learn a thing or two about whumpage from you. *bows before the master*

Hmm. That bugs me. I want to amend it to 'mistress' but that doesn't quite have the same impressive ring to it, huh?

"Mistress" can have one hell of an impressive connotation depending on which circles you travel in *cracks whip*

i believe the phrase for men like Spenser and season 1 Will is "woobie" ... i've been hearing it bandied around a lot lately in the Sanctuary fandom; apparently a lovable, vulnerable character who lives to be whumped

Do you like my to-do list? [livejournal.com profile] talkofcake made it just for me. apparently it's a commentary on my writing and role-playin *innocently blank expression*

LMAO! Tru dat. I've been reading Regency romances so I was thinking of...you know, 'kept women', but now that you mention whips... Rawr! Lol, I just watched that CM ep today with the killer call girl and Morgan handing Emily this black leather outfit and asking whether she has a whip handy. Followed by Hotch telling her to 'get ready to vamp'. *dies* Ahaha!

Oh, yes, ickle woobies! Whose fate it is to be eternally whumped, with doses of TLC in between, poor things. The 'vulnerable', I believe, is key to this concept- Hotch has been whumped on mercileslly [geez, the guy is blown up and then he's knifed and mindfrakked, have mercy!] but I wouldn't call him a woobie.

Heh, 'psych!whump Will'. My, my. I wonder that he's fully intact by the time you're done flaying his character with creative new forms of angst.

Snurching some of your memes, kthx!

Re Vampire Diaries (VD? ROFL), I kinda wanted to watch it... because I was alllll about Dawson's Creek back in the day. But now you make it seem dodgy and lame and you make me a sad panda, so I'll just stick to my CM. Maybe I was only attracted to it because of the Ian Somerhalder factor... He is a pretty, pretty man.

*high fives* You are made of win, for srs! *nodnod* I never thought I'd love that movie as much as I do- I think I need to get myself a copy so I can delete it off my grandmother's Foxtel, lol. But I like having it there so I can play it randomly when I'm bored or in need of a good giggle!

Go wild!

(VD? Is that- funny for some reason? I don't get it. *hates being ignorant* Is it a drug or sex act or felony of some sort?) Oh, bb, I'm sorry for harshing your enthusiasm for the show. You could totally enjoy it on the shallow level of 'ooh, pretty people + fangs and gore + random flashback sequences with period costume'. Just- don't watch it for the plot is all I'm sayin', yeah?

And dude, Ian Somerhalder is TOTALLY a reason to watch the show. [If it comes on Foxtel, I'm recording it just for him, but otherwise, it's not on my list of 'make a date with the couch', I'm not that fussed] He's the evil brother and so witty and charming, if in a psychotic sadistic way. That neck-snapping sequence? Pure awesome. I never saw it coming and it was just so mind-blowing and unexpected for a show that's too frequently cliche and bland.

Well I haven't seen any of Vampire Diaries yet but I think I'll give it a go when it comes to the miracle of DVD. And now I'm intrigued about this neck snapping sequence.

I don't think the vampires in it could match up to the ones in True Blood though. It's all about True Blood.

Too true! *preens* Lol. I must make a note to surround myself with adoring fans so that I can keep this feeling of exuberant pride and self-worth at maximum levels all the time. :D

Ohhh. See, I knew it had to be something nasty like that. My instincts, they serve me well. *nodnod*

And now I'm intrigued about this neck snapping sequence.

So you should be. :P Damon is BADASS. This happens in like, the fourth ep [sorry about the inadvertent spoilage but you WOULD click on the LJ cut...] but there's probably other examples of his evil!awesomeness in the earlier eps. Seriously, he's the only reason to watch the show- he's got a plan [chaos and destruction, hedonism and self-fulfilment, whatever he wants to do whenever he wants to damn well do it!] and he's got the attitude and wits to make it happen. Well worth admiring. Doesn't hurt that he's easy on the eyes...

Ooh, not a big fan of TB but I do recognize that it has actual plot happening, which gets my respect. I may not be into it, but I acknowledge it has more commitment to character development and plot coherency than a lot of shows around these days.

No, seriously, be glad- anything that makes Twilight look good is embarrassingly ridiculous. I feel terrible for the vampire genre, it's really taking a beating right now. *eyeroll*

The problem is that they keep reinventing the same dynamics of boring lame girl with supernatural dudes lusting after her for no foreseable reason- or at least, not what I'd call a valid reason. Relationships should be based on more than either freesia-scented blood or the chick resembling his long-dead manipulative witch of an old flame. That's messed up, y/y?

I'm pretty much just cheering on the baddie 'coz I'm hoping he'll slaughter everyone else sooner or later, lol. >:D
