Beautiful people

Because I'm too cheap to buy magazines, I borrow them from the library. Yes, it's inconvenient having to wait in queue but on the bright side, that's over $200 I save a year, so. *shrugs* This was last month's issue, but the pretty people were pretty, so I went a-scanning.

Tasmanian born! *squees* I may not be patriotic about sports- couldn't care less who wins the footy or cricket or whatever- but the fact that this dude is from my place of birth? *feels smug for no good reason*
Also...I love the double-standards. All the women in this issue are presented with immaculate images...it's the guys who are soaking wet! Lol.

I fall more in love with her the more I read. It's so awesome that when she was a school girl, she was crushing hardcore on Leonardo Dicaprio, and then she grows up, stars in this phenomenally successful film and she's at the Oscars where, lo and behold, her childhood crush comes up to her to tell her how much he admires her! ZOMG. Dream moment, much?!

laurandbillever and I were talking about how there should be a show based on the lives of these soapie stars as they go about filming because there is so much drama in their real lives. Blake [Serena] and Penn [Dan] are dating in real life, as are Ed [Chuck] and Jessica [Vanessa]. Must be interesting when their characters are feuding with each other and breaking up all the time...

*snorts* This guy was rejected by a modelling agency and is now at the top of various hottest men/beautiful people lists. Don't you love it when things work out that way? Bet that agency is kicking itself now, heh. >:D

Another wet guy! *g* Who orchestrated this shoot?! I don't really know much about him, other than he's appearing in the new Terminator movie, so yay! I'm looking forward to that, although I wish wish WISH that Cameron [Summer Glau] was in it. *pouts* The movie would be automatically ten times cooler. *nodnod*

Yay for Lenka being recognized! I'm totally in love with her music and it's great that she's becoming more famous.
It's a little ironic that I used to *facepalm* look down on Australians because I always thought anything they could do, Americans could do better...*runs to avoid a lynching* You cannot compare City Homicide or Underbelly to Criminal Minds or The Mentalist, come on, be honest, the overseas shows are vastly superior and I never understand all the vitriolic anti-American letters in the paper, I wonder at the lunatics who believe we'd be better off without American shows! :O
And now, fate has the last laugh. My favorite singer and actress are Australian. *shakes head* I can admit when I was wrong, I'm on my knees begging forgiveness at my prejudices...

Twilight for the lulz. As much as I hate the books/movie, the actors make me crack up laughing. I have to quote this because it is too hilarious, really:
'...given that he's a vampire and her blood smells unbearably delicious to him, their passion becomes, as MTV put is, as violent and intense as "something out of a Michael Douglas sex thriller". Pattinson and Stewart bonded for their deadly lustful liaison by watching Last Tango in Paris together [he also gave her a copy of Virgil's Doomed Love] and revelling in the suspense. "Whenever I kiss her, I try to kill her," says Pattinson. "I always want to kill her." For Stewart, the suspense meant game on. "Bella is a total sadomasochist. I love that"...'

HUGH!
I need to scan the pic from the LA Times from last Friday. *drool*
(no subject)
Date: 2009-05-07 02:04 am (UTC)And lol, aren't we both busy little scanning bees today? ^_^ Argh, it took me forever to figure out how to use the scanner. And then it only emailed the pics in pdf form so I had to go and copy and paste in paint but the thing went out of whack and it was all kinds of headache-y. *sighs* But the end result was worth it. :D
Btw. Your icon! It's so subtle! *squishes it*

Date: 2009-05-07 02:22 am (UTC)Glad you like the icon...my brain is so fried I can't remember which one it was now. LOL
ETA:
OH that's my TV!Murphy admiring TV!Dresden's ass. :D I miss that show but not often...I have the DVDs. LOL

Date: 2009-05-07 02:34 am (UTC)That's one catfight I wouldn't like to be in the middle of... :P
I thank you for being willing to give him to me. ;)
I can be magnanimous that way. *looks modest* [It amuses me that if this conversation were between two guys about a woman, they'd probably be called sexist; isn't it grand when double-standards work in our favor?]
I first saw Dresdenat a Stargate con. It seems like an interesting show but I think the ship didn't hook me in for some reason. Still, it kept all us fans quiet while the stars took their sweet time arriving. *eyeroll* Good times. We also saw Unending for the first time at that con, and since I didn't have the dvd yet, that was pretty squeeworthy [I know a lot of fans hated it, thought it was unoriginal and all that, but as a fan of Daniel/Vala, I enjoyed it].
(no subject)
Date: 2009-05-07 03:07 am (UTC)Ah, Unending. I love the Sam and Teal'c moments...but we can never discuss the Daniel/Vala stuff because you'd hate me. Let's just leave it at that...shall we. Trust me.

I've never known when to let go of something. :P The not-knowing drives me nuts, even when I'm fairly sure I should let well alone.
'k, I enjoy watching Daniel and Vala but I'm not a hardcore shipper, and even if I were, I wouldn't hate you! So, why don't you like them? [Not judging you, just curious]
If it irritates you to think about them, then that's okay, no need to go there, but if you're holding back because of me...spill.

Date: 2009-05-07 03:31 am (UTC)Daniel was a complete ASSHOLE to Vala. He said some horrible things to her and broke her heart. WHY THE FUCK were they all over each other after that?! What a piece of fucking shit that scene was. Where the fuck does he get off telling her "you better not be messing with me?!" GA!! I'm sorry if some man ripped into me like Daniel ripped into Vala, I would have LEFT THAT ASSHOLE. GA!! and Double GA!!!
I'm sorry no and I mean NO SELF RESPECTING WOMAN (and Vala is at least by this eps she was more so than ever) would have jumped his bones like that after having him treat her like THAT. GAH!!!
Other than that, I didn't hate Unending.

Date: 2009-05-07 11:46 pm (UTC)Lol, I've gotten so used to increasing celebrities' ages by 5-10 years because they're all deceptively youthful-looking, it was a shock to look at Rebecca Gibney [who won the Gold Logie this week, apparently that's important or something] and read that she's 44, which is what she looks like. WEIRD. She's been in the papers all week and I'm like, 'Yeah, I know you from THE LOST WORLD and look at you now, Lady Cassandra!'
I get a little miffed, I admit, when I see former Lost Worlders being all famous and feted for their acting in new movies or shows. Like, Claudia Karvan who was Marguerite's great x infinity-granddaughter? *sighs* I had the most irrational urge to scratch her eyes out when she was in all these newspapers and magazines for a new mini-series, because I wish Rachel was doing more acting, she's just so brilliant it's criminal not to have more from her. *sads*

Date: 2009-05-10 11:04 pm (UTC)They only get better. *nodnod* It's incredible, I think this show has become as awesome as it can be and then it outdoes itself. :D
(no subject)
Date: 2009-05-12 06:40 pm (UTC)I've watched the 10th episode of The Mentalist last night and liked it. It gets even better? Great! It's good to have a show that can replace BSG ;)
(no subject)
Date: 2009-05-13 02:48 am (UTC)It gets even better? Great! It's good to have a show that can replace BSG ;)
Indeed it does! I liked it from the start but it was the 10th ep that made me an obsessive addict, lol, and there is so much more squee to be had. :D I love that everyone's trying to find new shows to deal with BSG ending, that's quite a hole to fill.
PS. Lol at the matching Carla-Mary poses. That was totally on purpose, right?
(no subject)
Date: 2009-05-15 04:02 pm (UTC)I still haven't seen the 11th ep, but I hope I find time for it soon. What was the last episode that you've watched?
PS. Lol at the matching Carla-Mary poses. That was totally on purpose, right?
I was like "Huh? What is she talking about?" - So no, it was pure coincidence, Or... it arose from my subconscious :)))
(no subject)
Date: 2009-05-18 12:56 am (UTC)Lol, okay, then, must've been a subconscious thing!

Date: 2009-05-07 06:43 pm (UTC)and Chuck and Blair look sooo good together on that pic!!
Ohhhh... Hugh Jackman........ *is melting* the man is seducing me through the picture.......

Date: 2009-05-07 11:55 pm (UTC)*is melting* the man is seducing me through the picture....
HEE! I love that everyone worships Hugh, but I feel a little abnormal, I'm the only female around that's not lusting after him, it's Simon Baker that's won me over!
(no subject)
Date: 2009-05-08 06:28 pm (UTC)Well, different people- different tastes :P And poor Simon needs someone to drool over him, too :D He is cute, but just doesn't have that distinctive "bad boy" thing in his look... and I loove bad boys :P:P:P

Date: 2009-05-09 07:02 am (UTC)*eats him*
oh, wait...I ATE him. Shoot, now we won't have him for the next season...

Date: 2009-05-12 03:13 pm (UTC)I think these lists are more about popularity than beauty.

Date: 2009-05-13 03:03 am (UTC)Last year, the cast of House was featured and Hugh's 50, I think, and Lisa's in her 40's, so it's not just teen stars like RPattz and KStew that are featured but I agree, in general, the lists are pretty age-ist. This one has people like Meryl Streep, Michelle Pfeiffer [Stardust! *squees*] and Diane Lane but in a separate division 'age-defying beauties'. So they don't get included with the other beauties, they've gotta specifically break them down by age in order to represent people in their late 40s or 50s. A separate list, 'beauty at every age', has people like Sharon Stone, Kim Cattrall and- Mimi Rogers, lol. Wow, Jane Seymour and Cybill Shepherd are OLD but they so don't look 58 and 59 respectively, they're still quite beautiful.
these lists are more about popularity than beauty.
ITA. Taylor Swift was in there and I don't think she's pretty. She could be but she's always looking like she smells something bad, it's off-putting.
