Electric Feel! *dances* I luffs it so. And the music video is just trippy, lol.

The dinner on Saturday...rollercoaster ride before we ever even left; the parents had a huge argument and at one stage we weren't going to attend any more but they managed to patch things up and we made it after all. I was kinda disappointed- I had two episodes each of Mentalist and CM, so I was all ready for a cosy night in. Alas...
Dinner was crazy. Never go out with a bunch of Samoans, they are such a rowdy bunch. Old people are supposed to be sedate and mature, right? But they were singing at deafening levels, they pushed aside the furniture for some traditional dancing- and one lady got up on her chair to do a bit of a hula, omg- they were accidentally breaking glasses...yeah. I lost my voice because it was so hard to converse with my cousins over the adults' ruckus. *eyeroll* I thought it was funny that the restaurant people closed the door to our room, I guess because we were disturbing the other patrons, lol.
The WTF moment of the evening- when 'Aunty Flo' [she's like, my grandmother's cousin or something, I have no idea] asked us girls if we'd read Twilight because people at work were recommending it. *horror* Apparently it's like LORD OF THE RINGS, they said to her. *dies* I- I don't even know how to respond to that level of self-delusion.
Let's move on to fantasy of actual worth. I said a while back that Jim Butcher's Codex Alera is the best fantasy series ever. I stand by that, though I must split hairs in order to declare that in my not-so-humble opinion, Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels books are the most awesome urban fantasy books ever. I just finished Magic Strikes and am fighting the urge to cry at the devastating news that the next book won't be out til NEXT YEAR. *sobs*
But look! Pretty cover art is pretty! :D

As if you don't want to read that. Come on, badass chick with a sword? A fierce looking lion? [Although I'm overcome with the inappropriate urge to coo and stroke it, bury my face in its mane and take rides on its back like it's Aslan and won't rip my face off for the insult]
Go ooon. Read this excerpt from the first book, Magic Bites and tell me that doesn't capture your imagination. Borrow it from the library or just buy it, I promise you will not be disappointed. Heck, I'll even buy it from you if for some unfathomable reason, it's not to your liking. Just read it because it is the most frakking fantastic thing I've read in years. *glees* We have magic and technology co-existing in a world with shapeshifters of all varieties and a fascinating and really original spin on the whole vampire concept, starring a witty, kick-ass heroine who uses brains and brawn to overcome all obstacles, with a quip at the ready, no matter the situation. I love her more than I've loved anyone in a book before. *worships*
