'k, so I've been trying to post this entry for the past few days. I blame odakota_rose for dragging me off into never-ending IM sessions for the fact that I haven't been around much :P Not that I put up much of a fight, lol. I just have so much fun rambling on about everything and anything, then all of a sudden, it's like, 'Crap, where did the last four hours go? I have to leave now!'

Is it just me or is there a deluge of books lately revolving around ordinary human girls/amazing supernatural dudes?
Just a few that I came across while browsing for new books- Shiver, Hush Hush and Fallen [a rip-off of Twilight]. Among many others.
Was there always a market for this or did Twilight create the new demand for that kind of romance? I can understand the appeal of these books- I wouldn't mind being swept off my feet by someone rich, handsome and super in love with me, y'know? It's all about wish fulfilment, I get it- but my tastes have always run towards a more equal relationship, where the chick is equally awesome and talented and kick-ass. When I read the books, it's more about vicariously living through the main female character- so if she's just this average, boring person with no skills or self-confidence, I get bored pretty fast.
I don't think I've pimped these books lately, so I will now- YOU MUST READ:
*Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels books, starting with Magic Bites, and
*Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy books, starting with...Vampire Academy.

I hate summer.
Hand me any justification you might think of and I will demolish it.
The part that has me distinctly disgruntled right now? I had two family blocks of Cadbury waiting to be devoured- and they MELTED. A true tragedy, I tell you. I tried to force myself to nibble on the melted mush anyway, but it made me feel rather nauseous so I gave up on it as a lost cause. *sniffles*
