You know, I found Katy a little irritating at first- like, I'd sing 'I kissed a girl' and then I'd whack myself over the head, 'WHY ARE YOU SINGING THIS? SHE'S SO ANNOYING!' but then I heard Hot 'n Cold and laughed myself silly over the music video [have you seen it? So funny!] and now I admit to loving her without any shame.
Lol, Xena...it's very ambiguous. Both she and Gabrielle have relationships with men, but they have a very strong bond between them and sometimes it seems to be of a romantic nature...it's up to the viewer's interpretation but I've heard in the later seasons [I haven't seen 5 and 6] that it's less subtext and more OVERT-text. Doesn't really bother me, I just adore the idea of two women having such a strong relationship and affection for each other, it's something we rarely see on tv, it's always about MEN, like Adama and Tigh [name me one strong female friendship on BSG?], House and WIlson, etc. etc.
