Actually in S1 Kahlan explains how much she hates that when she confesses people they basically become her slaves. In that season a lot of the time she'd simply tell them to live their lives as best they could and to not follow her (around). What else is she supposed to do open up a crack!house and keep them all there? Hey that might work...they'd end up killing each other since they all "love" her so much.
