Oh, god. I don't get how they got 'good' out of their names, so it's more of a judgment call, I guess? As in 'our ship is more awesome than everyone else's, haha, suckers'? *punches the ship*
I am so sure that the movies influenced the books- it wasn't til Emma and Rupert were acting like there were VIBES or TENSION or something that it was more fully explored in the books, which just ruined it for me for good.
[God, I hate HBP- the way Hermione's character devolves and becomes more immature than when they were First Years! *criz for Hermione's lost characterization*]
Though personally, I don't make as much a deal out of her not hugging him in CoS as shippers do- apparently not hugging him indicated repression of her true passionate feelings for him?
And god, I wanted to scrape my nails down their faces when they went on about how his jealousy was so romantic, him making her miserable and break down into tears and ruining her evening in GoF was a demonstration of their undeniable attraction and mutual affection for each other, WTF?!
As much as I dislike Harry [jeez, everyone was character assassinated by the end], at least he and Hermione had a strong relationship built on actually, gee, who'd'a thunk it, caring about each other and being confident enough to LET IT SHOW instead of presumably hiding it behind nasty taunts and endless petty sniping matches, ugh. Have you seen the vid, Love Song Requiem (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqVeHNf2ttQ)? It's really very lovely- not my ship, but so well put-together and emotional and I like it very much.
