Buffy/Angel! I got turned off the show when it bombed spectacularly. I know people think Joss Whedon is a god and I don't want to step on your toes, but the way he handles relationships...ARGH. It's unrelenting angst with pretty much NO CHANCE for happiness. I always wanted Angel and Buffy to work it out and get back together but when I realized it wasn't going to happen, I just couldn't be bothered anymore.

Compare that with Richard and Kahlan. They can't have sex without disastrous consequences but they're allowed to still be together in the same show! They're still in love! So what if they can't have the physical pleasures, they're still pledged in an emotional relationship and committed to each other! I LOVE that about LotS. I may not be an R/K shipper, I just tolerate it because Kahlan loves him and I adore her enough to put up with the man that makes her happy, but I'm so happy with the message behind the show's main ship. So many shows are all about the sex these days til it's meaningless, but here, they're about the love. So awesome. [Kinda Pushing Daisies-like, no?]
