As I've said, I was surprised at how much the first book DIDN'T suck when I was re-reading it so I could properly beta Liz's canon-compliant fic. When Harry was little, he was quite likable and you could cheer him on, and as an 11 year old, you didn't expect too much from him. But when he grew up and was just incapable of good sense or clear thinking or heeding advice from others...*kicks him*
I kinda want to see if there's any fic where Neville was the Chosen One and to read about his version of the Golden Trio, I'm just so disenchanted with Harry and Ron, I can't even bear to see them in fanfic, ugh. I really like the fics where new trios or quartets are formed, it's great fun reading Hermione having other friends.

Well, it won't win any Oscars, but I explain my affection for it as stemming from my roots as a sci-fi fan: we're used to incredibly far-fetched and bizarre storylines with shaky, mutable logic and on-the-fly world-building. We're also more forgiving of plot-holes, lol. It's a decent enough movie if you're looking to kill time. ;D
Holy crap, that's Julia Roberts in your icon?! WHOA, she looks totally different than what I remember, I didn't even recognize her...wow...thanks for explaining, there's my curiosity satisfied!
