I wonder if there's a blogthing for finding out your Secret Service codename. I'd like to know what mine would be. Just reading about the Obama family's names makes me shiver with delight- Renegade, Renaissance, Radiance and Rosebud? Aww! The girls' names are so sweet! Although reading through the list of former First Family codenames and noting how each started with the same letter makes me wonder about the West Wing's seeming inaccuracy of naming the President 'Eagle' and his daughter Zoe 'Bookbag'. *ponders*

However! It does allow me to giggle at one of the many hilarity-inducing exchanges on that wonderful show.

C.J. Cregg: Donnie, would you tell them I’m on my way over to see the President?
Donnie[into mike]: Flamingo is on her way.
Sam turns the corner, but C.J. whips around when she hears what Donnie called her.
C.J. Cregg: Who? What did you call... what did he call me?
Sam reaches from off camera and pulls her away.
C.J. Cregg: What's your secret service code name?
Sam Seaborn: They just changed it.
C.J. Cregg: I know. What's yours?
Sam Seaborn: Princeton.
C.J. Cregg: Mine's Flamingo.
Sam Seaborn:: It's nice.
C.J. Cregg: No, it's NOT nice.
Sam Seaborn: Flamingo's a nice looking bird.
C.J. Cregg: The flamingo is a RIDICULOUS looking bird.
Sam Seaborn: YOU'RE not ridiculous looking.
C.J. Cregg: I know I'm not ridiculous looking.
Sam Seaborn: Any way for me to get out of this conversation?
C.J. Cregg: I'm gonna talk to someone.
Sam Seaborn: Excellent.

And? Latin is good for something. Apparently my last name means GOD. Take that, world!

I love Latin. How excited was I that President Bartlet was a dork and loved it too.

I keep forgetting you are also a West Wing fan, I knew there were like 5 reasons you were made of win : D

Lol, only *5* reasons? *pouts* Well, it's only been, what,a month since we met? You'll have a hundred more by Christmas! :P

Do you actually study Latin or you just like reading about it? I'm not that intellectual, sadly, I just find it fun when it crops up in tv shows [Stargate mines Latin extensively- or Latin sounding terms anyway]. West Wing is definitely the geekiest of them all, I love when the President starts on a lecture and everyone groans. Heh. My grandfather was a lot like him- just like Bartlet used his presidency ot make everyone suffer through his lectures, so Pa used his grandfatherly authority to make us kids listen to him, lol. He taught me some phrases a while back but nothing that's stuck. I wish I was better at languages- it sucks that the two branches of my family speak two different languages and I have no clue. *sighs*

It wouldn't be so bad except I keep fangirling characters that are awesome with languages! Emily knows, what, six or seven? Elizabeth Weir on SGA knows about the same and then there's Marguerite on TLW who pwns them both with her knowledge of infinite languages. Grr!

I studied Latin in junior high, 7th and 8th grade, a looonnnnnnngggggg time ago but that is how I caught the bug. Then as a Criminal Justic major (like ROSSI!!!!) I learned even more so caught the bug again. I own about 4 Latin-English dictionaries, but again dictionaries are one of my things, words are period.

WOW, that's a lot of denied passion there. O.o You can't has it now? Sucky. I myself only have seasons 1-5. That's about as far as I want to go. I didn't like the direction of the rest of the show. Maybe someday when I'm less prone to suffering heartbreak and agony over 'just a silly tv show' but not now.

I kinda resent that TWW started in the middle of the story, it would've been better if they began at the beginning. Prolonged it, you know? Okay, okay, so the flashbacks at the beginning of season 2 explained how their relationships formed fairly well, but I'd've liked more time before the whole MS bomb because seaons 3? Depressed the hell out of me. I love this show, but the anger and resentment and- just...depressingness bugged me. I like the innocence of 1-2. And Ainsley! OMGLOVE! I wish she'd stuck around for another season. Her beating up Sam on national television...and the group singing Pirates of Penzance in her basement office! GAH! *swoons*

Nope, i can't. Because what's the point in buying the whole box now, in canada, when i'm going home in May? At least i'll only have to wait until like, June or July to have it. Because i'm going to buy the WHOLE box and marathon it. Along with TXF, Pushing Daisies, Bones. Stargate Atlantis seasons 1-3 and likely TLW again.

YOU'RE USING ONE OF MY ICONS!!!!!!! *DANCES* I really need to make more of those. I need to icon "The Secret" because it has within it, the most adorable scene known to television-watching kind.

June/July? That's awful, I'm so impressed with your patience!

Region zones are teh suck. I need to find a program to unlock my laptop so I can play all regions- my dvd player does, which is great, but when I need caps of something with a burning passion but cannot... *clutches head*

Wow, heck of a list! I'm with you on all those except Pushing Daisies, which I've heard people talk about but never seen. Judging by title alone, it doesn't seem to fit the theme of all the other shows... O.o

Wait, more iconses? Hurrah! :D

The Secret...with the ouroboros [god, that word is such a pain to spell]? I love that ep because it had the dance, yes? The incredible wonderful magnificent dance and I was giddily giggling with glee, bubbling over with mirth and happiness and bliss...*sighs contentedly* Good times. ^_^

But the end kinda pissed me off- I hate it when the heroes have a baddie locked in their sights but DON'T PULL THE FRAKKING TRIGGER. UGH. 'k, so morality and caution and that kind of thing might interfere, but omg...it was right there and I loved Marguerite so much for basically saying she'd rather be stranded in the middle of nowhere with Roxton than anywhere else in the world and then this, this, stupid moronic jerk ruins the whole moment and makes off with the bloody aura-thing. *headdesks* He needs to die. Painfully.

Um, btw, can you tell I'm kinda obsessed with this icon? It's so fabulous. My eyes just fixate on it. *stares*

Woohoo, i'm finally replying. Had a busy day yesterday.

With the DVDs, it's not region zones that are my problem, it's the fact that anything i buy, i'll have to lug back to Australia. Which is why i'm sending my super heavy X-Files book, back with Mum and Dad, hehe.

Oh, Pushing Daisies is awesome!! You'll be surprised, I was the same, but it has an innocence about it. It's beautiful and intelligent. The Pie Maker and Chuck's relationship is ADORABLE in it's complexity - they can't touch each other, ever! - and it's excruciating too. Plus, Emerson Cod is HILARIOUS!

Yep, more iconses. I'm going to make more right now!! That dancing scene in "The Secret" is most definately the most adorable thing i've EVER seen on screen! EVER!!! I love it SO much. Marguerite proved, so many times, what she's willing to do. Sometimes i thought it was a shame only Roxton ever saw...but it adds to their relationship, i suppose...that for the most part he's the only one that knows what she's really like. Or what she really loves. There is so much to Marguerite. So very much.

Hehehe, i'm glad you like the icon. Rachel is very beautiful. The fire just adds to it.

O.o This sounds interesting. I must watch the show just to understand what exactly is going on, lol. Color me intrigued!

It's kind of irritating to me that none of the others really appreciate her. Every time she uses the same 'seduce and conquer' tactic, every time they think the worst of her and get all hoity-toity and judgmental. And afterwards it's all, 'well, you haven't given us much reason to trust you, how were we supposed to know?' Ugh. I find it amusing that she's the wicked immoral type and yet the others in the group have this tendency to be over-judgmental and condemning at times, without reason, especially when it's all in aid of her saving their frakking lives. But it's interesting, adds another dimension to her character because sometimes she'd do anything to avoid recognition that perhaps she's a softie at heart because that's weakness to her and she doesn't want to betray that she does care. I love her complexity. ^_^

Btw, my story of how I got into TLW? Sapphs mentioned it on her journal a few times and posted a link to the prospective season 4. I read it. Liked the idea. Went and bought all three seasons. :P It's weird though, because my perspective on the show was informed by those spoilers, so I expected- different things. Like, I thought the whole 'Chosen One' and 'Protector of the Plateau' thing would be more prominent, a running thread throughout the series, yet these themes only cropped up once or twice, and then during the finale. And I thought Finn was more of a major character, instead of a handful of eps. >_< I really liked her!
