Episode 11- Red John's Friends.
This one's a bit shorter. I'm kind of in pain and I suspect it is due to a sunburn. I've only been sunburnt once in my life, so I'm not certain that this is what it is, but I'm suspicious. And in pain.
Anyway, in this ep, there were a lot more team scenes, and while the investigating and all that's fun to watch, I miss my one-on-one Jello moments. :[ But what was there was pretty powerful, y/y? :D
Lisbon: I know better than to try and stop you from doing what you think you have to do.
Jane: No, I’m fine about it. I can see Minelli’s point. Can’t be chasing every nutbag with a good story, can I?
Lisbon: Yeah, sure you’re fine with it. Just do me the favor of listening to me for a minute- so I can say ‘I told you so’ later.
And Lisbon isn't any different- she's all for truth and honesty, and does try to pursue it between them, but then there are moments like this when she covers up her emotions with a bit of tart humor. That 'I told you so' thing? SO not buying it. But I love that she makes the effort to seem like it's all about how much trouble he's being and what she has to go through with him, rather than her own very real concern.
Lisbon: Minelli wants me to keep a watch on you.
Jane: What are you going to do?
Lisbon: I’m not going to follow you around.
How disappointing. Was I the only one hoping for her to tail him this ep? That could've engendered a lot of cute moments, damn it. *pouts*
Lisbon: Let’s compromise. When you get into trouble, call me first, so I can try and minimize the damage.
[WHEN, lol]
Otoh, I love that she knows and respects him enough not to insult him by telling him to behave- she's basically saying, 'Fine, it's your funeral- go hang yourself, but leave enough slack so that I can possibly save you.' That's what friends do. They don't force each other to do or not do something, they just make it clear that they will have your back and will be there for you, whatever happens. *swoons*
---------------------
I love the eye!sexing in the middle of the boss’s ranting. Heh. He's full-on having a go at Jane and all the man can do is gaze over at Lisbon. Who looks appropriately sympathetic and woebegone on his behalf.
Jane: I quit.
Ahaha! I didn't notice til I capped it- the middle finger! *snorts* Ah, Jane. Irreverent til the end.
Lisbon: Don’t do that.
Jane: No, it’s okay, it’s best this way. *approaches*
You are the Good Witch Glinda. Obviously. Thank you.
*squeezes shoulder* I learnt a lot.
Talk about heart in your eyes. Lisbon is so pretty in her anguish. *huggles her*
--------------------
Jane is usually the one making the jokes and being hilarious to Lisbon's straight man that we don't usually get to see how amusing she is in her own right, without Jane to play off. The standoff with their boss makes me crack up every time, especially at how inept Rigsby is at lying, how easy it is to get a betraying rise out of him. *eyeroll* And Lisbon glares, then calmly flat out lies. Heh.
'
Then at the news they're all on suspension, for da boss man lacketh a heart...
That was more of a rhetorical stand we were taking back there.
How could you hold a grudge against this face? How is she so frakking adorable?!
And I love that once she realizes she's off the hook, she goes and pokes fun at Minelli. Like...DUDE. You just barely escaped with your job intact and she's sassing him. Heh. *luffs*
Ah, Teresa Lisbon the Civilian. And a right uncomfortable fit is is, too.
Jane: Uh.
Lisbon *chagrined*: Damn.
She's used to her position allowing her to throw her weight around and now that she can't use her badge- she flounders.
Jane: How are you going to get us in there without your magic badge?
Lisbon: You do the talking.
Jane: No, you try.
Lisbon: Don’t be childish!
*dies laughing* SO LIKE JANE, OMG. She's there to help him and he still messes with her head, puts her on the spot. I think this calls for another punch to the chest, Lisbon! He deserves it! Whack him! ;P
Hee. I love how she has no clue how to get them in, and Patrick has to rescue her. She's so flustered and he's all smug. Jerk. *squishes him*
--------------------
Jane: Plan B then.
Lisbon: What’s Plan B?
Jane: Ohh, you’re not going to like it.
Lisbon eyes him suspiciously and he just grins. Aww! How much cuter can they be?! This is bringing back memories of happy Sparky days, yo. Their eye!sexing isn't quite up to Sparky standards [how can anyone beat the nonverbal communication of, oh, just randomly, the epic Siege awesome of 'I don't want to send you to your death'/'you have to let me go'?] but boy, do they try. :D
*snorts* Using her CBI credentials to gain access…then blackmailing the family! *g* Nope, she was definitely never going to like that plan, heh. I gotta give her this- when she's in, she's all the way in. No missishness, no pansy-assing around, she up and brazens her way through this ordeal. Resolving NEVER EVER to help Jane again. EVER. Lol.
--------------------
Jane: I’ve had better responses. I think we made a sale. You never can tell.
Lisbon: We’re doomed.
------------------
Jane: Go ahead, say it.
Lisbon: Say what?
Jane: You told me, you warned me, you get the privilege of saying ‘I told you so’.
I hate how defeated and vulnerable he is here. It's like he doesn't have the energy to keep up that brilliant, manic facade anymore. *snuggles him*
Lisbon: ‘s all right. Not now. This isn’t over yet. We’re going to find Renfrew and he’s going to tell us what he knows.
I love them so much. At the beginning, Jane was gung-ho and she was left in damage control mode, wanting to be professional and discourage him, but also wanting to support him. The 'I told you so' was just to keep up appearances, part of her 'I can't be too obvious around Jane because he reads me too well as it is' misdirection. And now Jane's admitting defeat, she drops that whole disapproving act, waves aside the notion that she would throw this debacle in his face and tries to encourage him to keep going. It's the whole actions speak louder than words thing operating here.
----------------------
Jane and Lisbon in a motel room...*sighs* I'd think dirty thoughts but considering it's the siteof a double homicide... *shakes head sadly* Still, I love the sight of them sitting together on the bed, mourning their investigation. It's so emotionally intimate.
Lisbon: What do you think it means?
Jane: It means that Red John is far more powerful than I ever thought. He’s been way ahead of me this whole time.
Lisbon: I meant the writing on the wall.
Jane: Ah. *disheartened* I have no idea.
Lisbon: *comfortingly* It’s a good clue, though, isn’t it?
And with that, she reaches out to him. It's so excruciating, almost, because they're these people that work together and trust each other with their lives, but when it comes to personal emotional stuff, they're still learning where they stand with each other. I kinda like that she just touches him so delicately, so hesitantly, because that's the great thing I enjoy about this ship- the gradual unfolding of it all. If I was going to be metaphorical, I'd use images of a rosebud, slowly unfurling as it blooms. I take this extension of friendship and support over random sexing any day. I'm in this for the journey, rather than the destination. *sighs contentedly*
