Episode 11- Red John's Friends.
This one's a bit shorter. I'm kind of in pain and I suspect it is due to a sunburn. I've only been sunburnt once in my life, so I'm not certain that this is what it is, but I'm suspicious. And in pain.
Anyway, in this ep, there were a lot more team scenes, and while the investigating and all that's fun to watch, I miss my one-on-one Jello moments. :[ But what was there was pretty powerful, y/y? :D
Lisbon: I know better than to try and stop you from doing what you think you have to do.
Jane: No, I’m fine about it. I can see Minelli’s point. Can’t be chasing every nutbag with a good story, can I?
Lisbon: Yeah, sure you’re fine with it. Just do me the favor of listening to me for a minute- so I can say ‘I told you so’ later.
And Lisbon isn't any different- she's all for truth and honesty, and does try to pursue it between them, but then there are moments like this when she covers up her emotions with a bit of tart humor. That 'I told you so' thing? SO not buying it. But I love that she makes the effort to seem like it's all about how much trouble he's being and what she has to go through with him, rather than her own very real concern.
Lisbon: Minelli wants me to keep a watch on you.
Jane: What are you going to do?
Lisbon: I’m not going to follow you around.
How disappointing. Was I the only one hoping for her to tail him this ep? That could've engendered a lot of cute moments, damn it. *pouts*
Lisbon: Let’s compromise. When you get into trouble, call me first, so I can try and minimize the damage.
[WHEN, lol]
Otoh, I love that she knows and respects him enough not to insult him by telling him to behave- she's basically saying, 'Fine, it's your funeral- go hang yourself, but leave enough slack so that I can possibly save you.' That's what friends do. They don't force each other to do or not do something, they just make it clear that they will have your back and will be there for you, whatever happens. *swoons*
---------------------
I love the eye!sexing in the middle of the boss’s ranting. Heh. He's full-on having a go at Jane and all the man can do is gaze over at Lisbon. Who looks appropriately sympathetic and woebegone on his behalf.
Jane: I quit.
Ahaha! I didn't notice til I capped it- the middle finger! *snorts* Ah, Jane. Irreverent til the end.
Lisbon: Don’t do that.
Jane: No, it’s okay, it’s best this way. *approaches*
You are the Good Witch Glinda. Obviously. Thank you.
*squeezes shoulder* I learnt a lot.
Talk about heart in your eyes. Lisbon is so pretty in her anguish. *huggles her*
--------------------
Jane is usually the one making the jokes and being hilarious to Lisbon's straight man that we don't usually get to see how amusing she is in her own right, without Jane to play off. The standoff with their boss makes me crack up every time, especially at how inept Rigsby is at lying, how easy it is to get a betraying rise out of him. *eyeroll* And Lisbon glares, then calmly flat out lies. Heh.
'
Then at the news they're all on suspension, for da boss man lacketh a heart...
That was more of a rhetorical stand we were taking back there.
How could you hold a grudge against this face? How is she so frakking adorable?!
And I love that once she realizes she's off the hook, she goes and pokes fun at Minelli. Like...DUDE. You just barely escaped with your job intact and she's sassing him. Heh. *luffs*
Ah, Teresa Lisbon the Civilian. And a right uncomfortable fit is is, too.
Jane: Uh.
Lisbon *chagrined*: Damn.
She's used to her position allowing her to throw her weight around and now that she can't use her badge- she flounders.
Jane: How are you going to get us in there without your magic badge?
Lisbon: You do the talking.
Jane: No, you try.
Lisbon: Don’t be childish!
*dies laughing* SO LIKE JANE, OMG. She's there to help him and he still messes with her head, puts her on the spot. I think this calls for another punch to the chest, Lisbon! He deserves it! Whack him! ;P
Hee. I love how she has no clue how to get them in, and Patrick has to rescue her. She's so flustered and he's all smug. Jerk. *squishes him*
--------------------
Jane: Plan B then.
Lisbon: What’s Plan B?
Jane: Ohh, you’re not going to like it.
Lisbon eyes him suspiciously and he just grins. Aww! How much cuter can they be?! This is bringing back memories of happy Sparky days, yo. Their eye!sexing isn't quite up to Sparky standards [how can anyone beat the nonverbal communication of, oh, just randomly, the epic Siege awesome of 'I don't want to send you to your death'/'you have to let me go'?] but boy, do they try. :D
*snorts* Using her CBI credentials to gain access…then blackmailing the family! *g* Nope, she was definitely never going to like that plan, heh. I gotta give her this- when she's in, she's all the way in. No missishness, no pansy-assing around, she up and brazens her way through this ordeal. Resolving NEVER EVER to help Jane again. EVER. Lol.
--------------------
Jane: I’ve had better responses. I think we made a sale. You never can tell.
Lisbon: We’re doomed.
------------------
Jane: Go ahead, say it.
Lisbon: Say what?
Jane: You told me, you warned me, you get the privilege of saying ‘I told you so’.
I hate how defeated and vulnerable he is here. It's like he doesn't have the energy to keep up that brilliant, manic facade anymore. *snuggles him*
Lisbon: ‘s all right. Not now. This isn’t over yet. We’re going to find Renfrew and he’s going to tell us what he knows.
I love them so much. At the beginning, Jane was gung-ho and she was left in damage control mode, wanting to be professional and discourage him, but also wanting to support him. The 'I told you so' was just to keep up appearances, part of her 'I can't be too obvious around Jane because he reads me too well as it is' misdirection. And now Jane's admitting defeat, she drops that whole disapproving act, waves aside the notion that she would throw this debacle in his face and tries to encourage him to keep going. It's the whole actions speak louder than words thing operating here.
----------------------
Jane and Lisbon in a motel room...*sighs* I'd think dirty thoughts but considering it's the siteof a double homicide... *shakes head sadly* Still, I love the sight of them sitting together on the bed, mourning their investigation. It's so emotionally intimate.
Lisbon: What do you think it means?
Jane: It means that Red John is far more powerful than I ever thought. He’s been way ahead of me this whole time.
Lisbon: I meant the writing on the wall.
Jane: Ah. *disheartened* I have no idea.
Lisbon: *comfortingly* It’s a good clue, though, isn’t it?
And with that, she reaches out to him. It's so excruciating, almost, because they're these people that work together and trust each other with their lives, but when it comes to personal emotional stuff, they're still learning where they stand with each other. I kinda like that she just touches him so delicately, so hesitantly, because that's the great thing I enjoy about this ship- the gradual unfolding of it all. If I was going to be metaphorical, I'd use images of a rosebud, slowly unfurling as it blooms. I take this extension of friendship and support over random sexing any day. I'm in this for the journey, rather than the destination. *sighs contentedly*

And this is the episode we have seen in The Netherlands past thursday.
I wanted to hug him in the end.

Date: 2009-02-27 09:46 am (UTC)JELLO! *glee* Jisbon just sounds pornographic and Jane/Lisbon is kind of formal/dull/expected but jello... You kill me sometimes. In a good way.
I LOVE THE DOOR SCENE. I love how she just automatically reaches for her badge (awww, crap, my sister just arrived *pouts* Will make this quick) and he's all "Uh uh uh!" And she's like *panics* and he has to bale her out because she's so far out of her comfort zone it makes me laugh. Oh oh and the inflection on "damn" was just so damn perfect! Goc I love this show right now lol.
You just barely escaped with your job intact and she's sassing him.
That bit was great, but the entire scene from where Minelli comes in and busts Van Pelt onwards has to be my favourite of the ep :D I think it even beats out the try for some personal and physical comfort in the motel room!
I gotta find time to watch that again this weekend lol.

*shrugs modestly* It's what I do. :P I aim to please. *squishes*
Jane's kinda always perfect and usually it would irritate me that Lisbon was fumbling in front of him but that scene is made of SO MUCH WIN, I am in awe that they made me love it when I'd normally be predisposed to hate it on principle. Them two sell it so much, I giggle every time. *dies of squee*
You know, I watch for ship but those team scenes come close to stealing the show, lol. I am so happy that the team has this close family bond and there isn't the politics or anything, because I can't stand that. Even though Van Pelt and Rigsby have their thing, it doesn't mess up the fun dynamics [or hasn't yet, anyway], and in fact, adds to the crazy fun of it all!

Date: 2009-03-03 12:23 am (UTC)YES! That's why I think it's way too pornographic to characterise this ship properly. And yet Jello has such a cool ring to it... HAHA JISBON. That is the first thing I'm going to say to you I swear :D
THE TEAM SCENES. I do not watch this show for plot because every single one is kind of transparent, but the one liners (Cho is THE BEST and he just kills me) and the team itself already has a fabulous dynamic. I love that.
I think Cho may just be my guilty pleasure character. He's so deadpan and serious when he says certain lines and it takes a minute to realise he was sassing you and then you just gape because hello it's CHO LMAO.

Date: 2009-03-03 01:05 am (UTC)Not if I say it first. :P
Lol, you! ♥ Gone from wanting to rip my head off for mentioning it to using it for torment.

*nodnod* I watch NO SHOW for its plot. I know that probably reflects poorly on my intellectual skills, but ah hell. Who cares? It also serves as a form of therapy after BSG wears down on me with its angst and 'the world will suck endlessly beyond all previous levels of suckiness you THOUGHT you had encountered' MO. :P Omg, Saturday's ep was fantastic just for that MUSIC. I looped it over and over because that is exactly the kind of music I love, it's just so moving and epic and it's building up to this massive MOMENT that just makes me want to cry.
He's so deadpan and serious when he says certain lines and it takes a minute to realise he was sassing you
And CHO! I started off this show thinking it was for Jane and Lisbon and the others were irritating people that took time away from my ship, but ohhh boy, did I ever change my mind! *squishes him* I adore his deadpan humor!

Date: 2009-03-03 02:09 am (UTC)I usually enjoy the plot, but The Mentalist doens't really have deep plots. And IDK, I think it suits the show. So many crime shows on TV have these convoluted and twisted plots that go in circles. And that's ok as well, but I like this level. I haven't seen BSG yet! Ssssh!!
OMG Cho, do me. Right now. Wearing that suit and those sunnies.

Date: 2009-03-03 02:16 am (UTC)I used to watch L&O and Cold Case but I got so bored. I'd read through all the boring investigative bits and look up if there was any hint of team interaction. Which is why TM's focus on characters rather than plot suits me just fine. It's like it was made for me. :D
Oops! *claps hands over mouth* Well, I'm glad I didn't spoil it for you, I mean, you can't blame anything on me for just mentioning the music, right? [The opening theme is my msg tone because dear god, it is so utterly beautiful and I wish it were like, five minutes long]
*backs away* I'll leave you and Cho alone, then... :D

Date: 2009-03-03 02:35 am (UTC)I love the music anyway and KNOW it's going to be good so nope, no spoilers! I can't wait to be able to sit down tonight and watch it though :D
You're such an understanding friend ;)
