In the past eight days, I have had:
- McDonald's once
- Chinese noodles/rice twice
- and KFC three times

*facepalm* My diet. Isn't it the healthiest ever?

WTF, there's an NCIS spin-off? Why did nobody tell me about this?! I know CM's been planning one for ages but NCIS snuck theirs up on me! Gotta say, the title's a bit unwieldy. NCISLos Angeles. [Guess 'Las Vegas', 'Miami' and 'New York' are out of contention, lol]. NCIS: LA for short? Bit too many random letters floating around there...

Anyway, is it sad that immediately, I'm like, 'OMG, female boss! Male subordinate! Ship!'

But before I start making up cute ship names and drawing hearts and rainbows all around them, does anyone want to spoil me on the nature of the relationship between Gibbs and Macy? Don't tell me she was yet another one of his affairs back in the day, I will scream- NO, I'M KIDDING, I'LL BEHAVE, JUST TELL MEEEE.

---

Previously, I looked through my [meager *shameface*] Xena collection for a Karl Urban ep.
And once I started capping Deliverer, I got caught up in how much I used to love this show when it was non-slapstick-y and Xena and Gabrielle were intelligent and heroic and so much fun to watch!

Btw? I don't do femslash, but I see subtext.
[Holy crap, do I see subtext. Merlin, anyone? Literally EVERY CHARACTER on that show can be viably cross-shipped with anyone else, it's insane]
Xena/Hercules was my first real ship, and Xena/Ares is made of hawtness [ignoring the squick of him possibly being her father], but the writers threw in hefty doses of Xena/Gab and I'm not going to close my eyes and go 'lalala' like it doesn't exist, 'k?
So if that offends you, do us both a favor and don't read this.

Gabrielle:  “Well, what is a mountain, but just-- a-- a bunch of boulders-- right?  And, and-- what is a-- a rock-- but a large grain of sand?  And what is a large grain of sand?  Y-- you see my theory, here?”

Xena:  “No.”

Gabrielle:  “And that doesn’t bother you at all, does it?”

Xena:  “What possible use is this information to us-- huh?”

Gabrielle:  “Well, I haven’t the slightest idea, but-- well, hey, it gave us something to talk about since the last town, right?”

Xena:  “A town-- towns, which are made up of houses-- which, after all, are just large huts-- which are made out of wood-- ”

Gabrielle:  “Stop.”

Xena:   “ --which are made out of trees, and-- huh-- hang on—trees are bigger than huts, so-- there goes that theory.”

I love Xena being all light-hearted and mocking her! Aww!

Gabrielle is reluctantly amused.

Gabrielle:  “You can be so frustrating, sometimes.

Xena's trusty nose sniffs out trouble. She immediately acts to protect her companion.
..

...who is less than grateful.

Gabrielle: Hey-- don’t do that.”

AHAHA! DENIED.

*cough*Boob!grope*cough*
And Gabrielle pretending to check for a bruise. Hee.

-

The Leg-Breaking of Gabrielle.

OR NOT.

Gabrielle: Timing. We have got to work on timing.

Accurately placed daggers FTW!

It's like the ballet! On poles!

*cough*butt!grope*cough*

I'M JUST SAYIN'.
Calling it like I see it, yo.

-

Boadicea: By the gods, look. It's immense. How are we supposed to defeat that?

Xena: Caesar still has to divide up his army to attack the hills. Hold your cavalry until he tries to regroup. I'm going after Caesar. *unholy glee* He's mine.

Boadicea: Xena. I can't forgive you. But- I can thank you for what you're doing now.

Oh, crap. Don't thank her just yet! She ain't gonna be doing much for you. Letdown in 3...2...1...

Boadicea: What's the matter? What's that?

Xena: I don't know but it's centered over the temple. That's where Gabrielle is.

AND JUST LIKE THAT, HER BATTLE FURY AND BLOODTHIRST SUBSIDES AND SHE TAKES OFF TO CHECK UP ON GABRIELLE.

I feel really bad for Boadicea. Xena screws her over but good. Leading her into a war and then ditching her on the moment conflict is poised to begin? MASSIVE FAIL.

Odd, though, how this is bringing up visions of The Mentalist! Jane sacrificing his shot at taking down his mortal enemy in order to save Lisbon's life = Xena throwing away her shot to kill Caesar, the guy whose head she's wanted on a stick for yonks, to run off and save Gabrielle.

-

Witness that horror when she thinks Gabrielle's dead.
And the following devastation when she sees Gabrielle, crawling, weeping. *heart aches*
Lucy is such a phenomenal actress. I kinda hate myself- Lucy was my nickname as a child and then I stupidly insisted my parents call me by my real name because my cousin has the same name and I was jealous that she was taking it over. *eyeroll* Lucy was a much cooler nickname, why the fail, self?!

-

Gabrielle: I killed her, Xena.
Xena: No, Gabrielle, you couldn't-

Gabrielle: No, I did. I stabbed her. I just stabbed-
Xena: Accidentally, you-

Gabrielle: ...Xena...I murdered her.

For the record? I hate this entire storyline.
I hate the loss of her blood innocence- come on, she was trying to save someone, it was self-defense [it can apply to defending yourself or another party] and not AT ALL the definition of murder, okay? If she killed Callisto for killing her husband, that's murder. This? Nuh-uh.
I hate the not!rape and the demon!baby and the destruction of Xena and Gabrielle's relationship. UGH UGH UGH.
That is all.
-

Xena: Hold on, Gabrielle!

Okay, I know this is a serious scene of epic angst, but- HOLD ON. I always crack up laughing because it's always super useless. Responses such as 'NO, I'm gonna let go, I WANT to die' or, in this case,  'TO WHAT?' ought to be scripted in because seriously, wtf?

[Super blurry, but ah, what the hell]

OHNOES. THE FIRE HAS GONE OUT. THE FAIR MAIDEN IS FALLING TO HER DEATH AND POSSIBLY ETERNAL DAMNATION, I'M NOT QUITE SURE IF THIS IS, LIKE, THE HELLMOUTH OR SOMETHING.

XENA'S SUPER POWER OF FLIGHT KICKS IN.

Xena: I gotcha. I gotcha. I gotcha.

-

Gabrielle: Xena?
Xena: I’m here, Gabrielle.

Gabrielle: It hurts inside.
Xena: What?

Gabrielle: Everything’s changed, everything...
Xena: It's gonna be okay. Promise.

OMGHEARTBREAK. *wibbles*
I love that Xena hugs her and rubs her arms and holds her tight like it's gonna help mend those inner wounds. *sniffles*

Vidspam:

[Um. Fair warning- you might be getting a few Xena!vidspams in the future]

Brilliant vid of Xena kicking butt. Perfect timing, perfect clips, just...damn, it makes me want to rewatch the show from the beginning!

"Bit too many random letters floating around there..." I dont know about that. For awhile there, USA was adverisig NCIS as "the show with more initials than any other cop-show on TV" so NCIS: LA is kind of in keeping, lol

Erm, what's Boudica doing fighting Julius Ceasar? *goes back over the girl!love pics to distract herself from the inaccuracy*

Thanks for the eye-candy *hug*

Lol at the advertising gimmick...really? I love it, they took what could've been a weakness and made it their brand! Smart! I remember the ad where a LEO is all, 'NCIS? Is that like CSI?' or something and Tony goes, 'Only if you're dyslexic'. Mwahaha.

GOOD POINT! I don't know my history that well but even I'm aware of the major leaps in chronological events. *hugs you* Must pain you worse, since you seem way more knowledgeable about this.

I'm happy you enjoyed the pics, it certainly lifted my mood!

lol at the dyslexia crack. until i started watching it, i'd assumed NCIS actually WAS a CSI spin-off (especially sad since, as a military brat, i didn't need to be told what NCIS stood for)

The Boudica Rebellion was durig the reign of Nero, so almost 120 years after Ceasar invaded the island...

Yeah, those pics raised my mood. Also my blood-pressure...

I still boil at remembering this reviewer who absolutely hated NCIS...I knew, I KNEW every review was going to be bad but I read it anyway, I don't know why- he was so mean, he said NCIS stood for...*quivers with rage* Nauseous Crap Infiltrating Screens. This was about six years or so ago, and it's stuck with me all this time. Okay, I kinda admire his creativity [I suck with acronyms] but grr...

Also, military brat! I love that term, some of my favorite characters are military brats... *sighs*

And- wow, I'm impressed. Did you know all that off the top of your head? I'd have to wiki Caesar and co, I'm so shamefully ignorant. Lol, I hear 'Nero' and I think of Eric Bana in the latest Star Trek film... *facepalm*

Hee! :D I don't ship 'em but gods, they're so lovely together.

Cute acronym, but harsh judgment on a decent show (I only actually discovered it a couple of weeks ago because I turned on USA looking for House, so am still on a massive learning-curve).

But I do love the characters, especially Gibbs and, of course, Abby. Still see Logan Kale every time I look at Tony, lol. Not sure what I think of Xiva yet. There are very few characters who I know damned well are capable of cold-blooded, premeditated murder who I’m comfortable liking (in fact Ashley Magnus and John Druitt are the only two I can think of other than Zin from Tracker and he was too gleeful about being evil NOT to love, lol)

Military brats have a unique take on the world in my experience. They’re a lot of fun :)

It’s not so much that I knew the time-difference off the top of my head, but I was able to go “Uh, invasion of Britain was when Caesar’s spat with Pompey heated up, so early- or mid-50s BC and Boudica was right around when Nero started to lose his grip, so 60 AD” *shrug*

I’m the biggest geek ever, I know. *throws a fist in the air* Geek pride!!!
They are sweet together, yes, and sweet is generally good (except when it’s not).

I miss the early days of NCIS. It's a great show but after the third season, I drifted away from it. Which is why I'm excited about the spin-off because hopefully it'll have the same spirit that drew me to NCIS and make me all giddy and gleeful again. It's like with Stargate, I just got SG-1!fatigue after a while, I was sick with all their drama, with the shipper-y disappointment and I just couldn't enjoy it like I used to...then SGA came around and it was fresh and exciting and drew me back into the franchise.

Logan! I watched Dark Angel after I fell for NCIS- I only watched one season, but it was pretty entertaining.

There are very few characters who I know damned well are capable of cold-blooded, premeditated murder who I’m comfortable liking

Marguerite? :P
Wish we got to see more of that cold-blooded murder-y side of her, the writers seemed to forget her dark past sometimes. *eyeroll*

Oh, so Caesar really did have a feud going on with Pompey? I got that from Xena, lol, and considering their timeline violations, I wasn't going to put much stock in it....yeah, I'm such a historical ignoramus. *sighs*

These are our dynamics- you throw out random pieces of trivia and I will be envious and impressed. :P

Yeah, a lot of good shows have a habit of straying from their original course after too long. That's why I like a series like the British "Life on Mars" or "Jekyll" that says "We're giving ourselves this many eps to tell the story, then it's over" (13 eps for LoM and 6 for Jekyll) whereas with an American show it's too often "Hey, it's still got SOME loyal viewers from some insane reason so let's keep it going even though none of the original characters are still in it and the plot now bears no resemblance to the original series"

Dark Angel was good for the first season, but the second was honestly a train-wreck. Great premise; $h!t execution...

Actually, characters I like who are capable of cold-blooded and premeditated murder. Zin, the primary villain from the 2000 television series "Tracker". Zin was an evil bastard, but he was so gleeful about being evil that you just can't help but enjoy yourself watching him. The others are John Druitt and Ashley Magnus. Druitt is just a GENTLEMAN, even when he's being completely psychotic about it. And Ashley would as soon kick your ass as take shit from you and you KNOW she could kill without actually NEEDING to, but there's also a weird vulnerability about her at the same time that makes her not annoying even if she's dark and scary and intense.

Erm, what Ceasar had going with Pompey wasn't so much a "fued" as it was a "if Ptolemy hadn't had Pompey assassinated, the Roman Empire would have disintigrated within a year" Civil War. Ugly shit. And, so we can continue the dynamic, there was also a dude named Crassus involved who bankrolled the whole mess. But all three were highly unsavory dudes more interested in political power than the good of the Empire.

Xena and Mulan, man. I remember writing fanfiction before I knew what fanfiction was. I just scribbled stories in my pink binder about HOW COOL!!!! Xena was and how she beat people up.

Where are you getting your Xena eps?

Heh, seems to be a theme with Xena- it made a shipper out of me before I ever heard that term and made a fanfic writer out of you! I totally daydreamed about being Xena's side-kick and going on adventures with her but never committed them to paper. Too bad, would've been a hoot to read, lol.

I'm so disjointed- I bought part 1 of season 1, the two parts of season 2 and part 1 of season 3 from the local store, JB Hi-Fi. Cheaper, easier to get my hands on but no special features. *whimpers*

Season 4 I got from overseas through amazon. The bonus is that it has special features and it's packaged all pretty, but I can't play it on my laptop. *pouts* Hence the Deliverer picspam, even though I think Caesar's in a few s4 eps. *sighs*

I'm surprised at how readily available some of the old shows are- Xena, Wonder Woman, Teri Hatcher's Lois & Clark...

She's not another Gibbs ex. I believe she investigated him for something. I watched, but to be honest, can't remember. May have been murder or something.

So no, not a relationship. They're really antagonistic towards eachother -- or at least he is towards her.

And I hope they don't do a CM spin-off. I like the original just fine, and I'd hate to see them spreading themselves too thin by writing two...

Oh, thank you! Thanks so much for that, it's a relief to know. Would've been irritating if they repeated the whole Jenny thing again.

Interesting 'relationship'- so that's the startling truth, lol, she INVESTIGATED him. Well, I can see how he'd be antagonistic towards her if it was serious, like, he was up on murder charges or something. A little unfair- unless she was persecuting him. Hmm. I haven't watched NCIS in ages but I might have to d/l that ep.

I'm not sure how the new series will work out- the focus is on the agents going 'deep undercover' which suggests they're not just assuming new identities every ep but that it would be a little more arc-based.

ETA: They've been talking about a CM spinoff since last year, so if it's happening, it's taking its sweet time. I'm happy with things as they are, I don't want them to go messing with the formula...

Macy is the Women boss, right?

Well, if this is true, Macy investigated Gibbs for the shooting of a guy. They say in the show, that it is the guy would killed his wife and daughter.

(Ok, that makes me think of the Mentalist!! I have noticed that every lead character has lost somebody in one way or an other...)

Yes, yes, Macy is the woman! I wouldn't have been worried about the truth of a relationship between Gibbs and another dude because no way would TPTB ever go in that direction with him, lol.

Interesting details, thanks for enlightening me. And ha, how very Mentalist of it! 'tis a theme, this main character losing people they care about...how writers love to mine their angst, lol.

AGREED.
If they'd left it at this, fine, okay, ICKY but I can deal.
But bringing Hope into it, having her kill Solan, having Xena and Gab turn on each other and go all Kill Bill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iExTefUMnrc)...no. Just N. O.

Much as I hated the Xena pregnancy plotline, I can see how they thought it was necessary as Lucy was pregnant- but there wasn't even any point to it here.
