marguerite_kruxI'm pacing and fuming and awash in anxiety and dread while she's 'on the way'...except she still hasn't turned up by the time the doors open and the other students are filing in. So I call her- and find out her exam's not til the afternoon. All that pacing and fretting and shivering in the cold outside the gym was FOR NOTHING.
I got a text from her afterwards saying, ‘I think the line got cut, hold on to my card and I’ll grab it later. I’ll shout you a coffee. Good luck xoxox’ It made me giggle that it never occurred to her that I might have hung up [because I am a nice person who ordinarily doesn’t do things like that] and she was making this sweet offer while I was mentally directing mean, vicious thoughts at her, lol. The post-exam hot chocolate- with two marshmallows!- helped muchly with the de-stressing...and OMG, now that exams are over, I am finally freee! *twirls*
Okay, so I'm not entirely free, we're actually getting around to the moving house thing next week, AT LAST, so if I'm not around much, spare a thought for me in packing/shifting/cleaning misery, but still, three weeks without study, oh joy! *wriggles*

Merlin season 2 spoilers.

Dear Uther,
I love you, Uther. I really do. I have had your back, I've made excuses, I've defended your most reprehensible actions, but COME ON. MAKE IT HARDER FOR ME.
In A Remedy to Cure All Ills, I forgave you for turning on your old friend because of your panic for Morgana and how she nearly died- apparently as a result of Gaius' neglect- and your emotional turbulence at nearly losing her, and strengthened desire to do whatever it takes to keep her safe and well, even if it meant removing a friend from his well-earned position.
He's old, laying him off and putting him into early retirement may have seemed a wise decision. Both for his sake and those of his patients, as Edwin had manufactured evidence of widespread incompetence in his other treatments. So yeah, I can see it, you're making sense on a practical and emotional level.
PLUS, I was super impressed with you at the end, for admitting to him that you were wrong not to trust him, that as your friend, he deserved better and you swore you'd stand by him. Good moment there. But then this. THIIIIS. Surely finding out such a longtime and valued friend- who's saved your life over and over again, who's supported you and defended you and been forced to carry out tasks he found distasteful- was involved with magic, surely you could've found it somewhere in you to question whether your scorched earth policy really was the best option? This dude's put up with over two decades of your crap and he's backed you every step of the way, but the slightest whiff of magical taint and you're ready to frakking BURN HIM AT THE STAKE, WTF?! That is whack.
Seriously, the only way I could have less respect for you right now is if we substituted Morgana for Gaius in there.

Natalie Portman's been cast in Black Swan, a movie I'm totally intrigued by, because dude. Supernatural ballet thriller? SO THERE. I've also come across quite a few votes for Summer Glau to play the 'graceful yet menacing rival'!
I would just combust with excitement if this happened! I don't think it's likely, but it'd be so awesome, a) because I adore watching Summer dance and b), she does creepy menace so well! ^_^ Getting to see her strut her stuff AND freak out Natalie Portman would be such a dream.
Also? During my google research, I came across an article that suggested she might join Dollhouse. Wow. WOW. I haven't watched the show yet, but I was semi-cursing it for being renewed while TSCC was cancelled, and now hearing Summer might join the show...OMGPLEASE?!

I was so rooting for her *pouts*] because Uther, while acting to safeguard his realm, is undoubtedly a tyrant and unwilling to listen to reason as soon as anyone so much as whispers magic.
I really did love To Kill the King, you know. Because we saw her tread over that line and then she reigned herself in- I'm so happy that Merlin had NOTHING to do with it, lol, he's always saving the day and it was so great to see someone else be the hero for a change- and saved Uther in the end.
I'm just sad, because I really want to believe him when he says that Morgana is like her father, acting as his conscience and moral compass and he'll try harder to listen and abide by her counsel in the future [no kidding, I had tears in my eyes in this scene] but if he's going to be so inflexible and prejudiced that he'd go burn Gaius, who's been a loyal servant for over 20 years, then...yeah, he's gonna push Morgana over to the dark side pretty soon. *sighs*

Yes! I loved To Kill the King. She got so mad she let her anger blind her and we got to see a part of her and UNDERSTAND her for it.
That's something I hate about Uther. He says all these things to her but when the time comes he won't hesitate sending her to the gallows. It upsets me so much, because he was supposed to be a father figure, and if HE doesn't show her forgiveness for something that isn't her fault, how can she expect it from anybody else? (that's part of why I love Merlin/Morgana so much, they both understand that side)
And I like when Morgana is being so Queen-ish when she's subtly pushing Arthur to do something while he thinks it was all by his own self lmao.

I haven't actually really read Wicked or seen the play, but I'm thinking Morgana could kinda be like Elphaba, in that people spread all these lies and rumors about her to make her seem like the baddie when really, all she's doing is fighting against discrimination and prejudice and for the rights of 'the Others'.
(that's part of why I love Merlin/Morgana so much, they both understand that side)
Aww, she was so adorable when she was teasing Merlin about having discovered his secret and he was beside himself with glee at the idea of having someone to talk to about his magic...and then it turns out she thinks he has a crush on Gwen. [Why did the writers dabble with this misdirection? I was kinda into Merlin/Gwen, theyr'e cute!] He was so hopeful that he'd have a confidant and then disappointed. *pets him*
I really hate how Gaius keeps Morgana in the dark about her own powers, seriously, Gaius is a real jerk. 'Oh, it's Merlin's DESTINY so I'll teach him and guide him but Morgana? She can just think she's going crazy and that nobody believes in her'. *screams in rage*

True dat! She really plays the daddy card so well with him, poor manipulated baby.
Although it's funny when Arthur eventually realizes what she does and his reaction becomes to just sigh and ask, 'What do you want me to do?' like he can't be bothered arguing with her 'coz he knows she's going to get her way and it's easier just to get her to tell him what she wants, lol. So adorable.

Date: 2009-06-19 02:36 am (UTC)I never read or watched Wicked (or really know anything about it), but it seems like a good description for Morgana. She isn't really evil per se, but like Katie said herself, Morgana does the wrong thing for the right reasons. So I hope TPTB won't turn her into ultimate evil, just somebody misunderstood mostly.
I don't like it tho, during The Beginning Of The End when Morgana tries to get Merlin to open up about magic and he just backs off. It seems to me she does know about it (or at least suspects) but he doesn't bite it. Too bad. Sometimes i think all Morgana needs is someone who understands. Which brings me to Gaius. I can't hate him for doing what he does to Morgana (not entirely) because he's just trying to protect her. Merlin already knows his power so all Gaius can do is try to keep him from getting into trouble and using his magic the wrong way, while he can still from the whole thing entirely. Too bad he can't understand it's too late, because her powers are too big and she isn't ignorant of them. He tries to minimize them to preserve her, but it isn't helping b/c that isn't what she needs. And it's a BIG lot of lack of communication between everyone.
Hhaha yes i do love that part of the Arthur/Morgana relationship. TBH, I like most everything about them, the bickering, the fights, the little moments. All that makes Arthur & Morgana what they are, I just can't ship them romantically. GO FIGURE LOL.

The only reason I know about Blue Healers is that a couple of the FS actors did guesties on it or were regulars. LOL That's one thing I really don't like about the US, we shove our tv shows down the world's throat, yet we rarely get any of the rest of the world's shows, save stuff from Britain.
I'm actually not surprised by her possibly being into fashion design. Don't ask me why. LOL

I am not a hero is my favourite Trinity/Neo (The Matrix) song.... it is brilliant, it is deep, it makes me weep like a baby.... it is perfect! But I take it only for that pairing and that pairing only, so I am not going to watch any other pairings and vids with it... no offense, I am sure your friend did great with the vid, but that song is just debvoted to others in my heart... :)
