Whoa.

See, that's why I stopped watching ANTM as a whole. Only when they give re-runs, do I watch it, and it's mainly to see the last 20 minutes when they show the photographs. I don't really care for the judging.

In any case, I think the judges gives the win to whomever will win them more ratings. Oh, give the win to the girl with the short height, just to show people the industry has hope, go ahead! Oh, give the win to the girl who didn't even make it past the beginning of the show, go on, go on!
*shrugs* Just a thought.
Hmmm, another vid... I swear, my dial-up will remember your name, always :-P *huggles*
*gigglesnorts* My epitaph shall read: she made dial-up her bitch.
*is not only looking at boobs-is not only looking at boobs-is not only looking at boobs-is not only looking at boobs*
Ha! I should've posted some of the more raunchy ones but I didn't want people to get in trouble at work so I kept it PG- mostly. Couldn't resist posting Anya's! Her shoot could've been so tacky but she made it look classy. Imho. ;D
Seriously, though, I really believe the judges eliminate girls sometimes to stack the odds in their favorite's favor. 'coz there is no way Heather doesn't make it to top three, that's bull. *snarls*
Jaslene- she was all right, a bit drag queen-ish but she pulled off some great shots. It's just- NATASHA. COME ON. She made that season so much fun, less about the back-stabbing, more about her quirky antics. I hate how girls play up to the cameras, they wouldn't act the same way if they were in private, I bet you. All that screeching and squealing and temper tantrums and tears, oh my. *eyeroll*
You didn't like Naima? I knew she won from the start so I got used to the idea as we went through the show, even though she pissed me off with that simpering thing she had going. There are some girls you kinda wonder if they knew they were going to have the show rigged in their favor from the start and act all arrogant 'coz they know they'll win.
McKey- what a ridiculous name, she made it up 'coz there was another girl with her name, and then stuck with it for some reason- was the boxer, her first shoot was almost a disaster til they told her to pretend she was battling an invisible opponent and while trading punches with the air, she discovered her inner fierceness. *nodnod*
In any case, I think the judges gives the win to whomever will win them more ratings. Oh, give the win to the girl with the short height, just to show people the industry has hope, go ahead! Oh, give the win to the girl who didn't even make it past the beginning of the show, go on, go on!
WORD. NO, REALLY, IT'S UTTER CRAP THAT THEY DO THIS, ARRRRGH. Tahnee won just 'coz Sarah wanted to make a statement about curvy girls being able to work in the industry. Like one little AUSNTM winner is going to force designers to alter their clothing to make sizes that'll fit her on the catwalk. More likely, she just won't get hired, which is exactly what happened at the Fashion Week challenge, she had the least number of shows booked.
I swear, my dial-up will remember your name, always :-P
*facepalm* Ha, I'm notorious, I am. Better that than forgotten, I guess. Yay me!
It's not that I didn't like Naima, but more like... I preferred the other one. I think the only one I've really disliked is Saleisha (however you write her name). After her, I felt like not watching the show entirely.
Yes, tis 'Saleisha'- shame, such a pretty name for such an idiotic girl. Ugh. *throttles her*
You know...the name does make me think of 'salacious', lol. Hmm- not the most desirable association you'd want people to make when thinking about your daughter. *eyeroll* Parents these days.
Notoriously adorable? Adorably notorious? Either way. *twirls* ^_^
Well, you broke my dial-up, but that's close enough. Stupid dial-up >.> disconnected half-way through the vid. Oh well *gets ready to refresh* second time's a charm *snuggles*
Hmm. *ponders* Star Wars? Star Trek? I- can't- quite- place- it... :P GALAXY QUEST FTW. That needs to go on my list of dvds to purchase when I have money. *nodnod* I luffs it so much.
"What is this thing? I mean, it serves no useful purpose for there to be a bunch of chompy, crushy things in the middle of a hallway!" *gigglesnorts*
Ack, the never-ending struggle for dominance with that dial-up. You show it who's boss. ^_^
Dude, you have to get that movie, and watch it in THERMIAN. They have an audio feature where you can watch the whole movie in Thermian, the alien language? Dude, I didn't make it past 5-6 minutes. I started cracking up, laughing, with tears in my eyes, before I switched the audio to basic English. It was just too funny.
I had the hugest crush on him as a kid. Like, Ares >>> Hercules. I had a thing for the bad boy even as a little girl, lol. *eyeroll* Is it engineered in our DNA or what?
The most disgusting thing is that in the end, Cassi as the runner up still got offers from Priscilla's, which handles the winner, and from Elite Model Management in the US- and she turned them down.
That was pretty stupid, if you ask me - this girl's got the whole world at her feet and she turns down an offer like that? That's just insane. I'll take fashion over a bogan brickie husband and a bunch of kids any day, thanks.
I haven't seen all of the season of America's Next Top Model, so I can only comment on the ones I have seen:
Cycle 8
I didn't actually get to watch all of it - thanks, Channel 10! - but I hated Natasha with a passion - I can't remember who I liked though, so that sucks.
OMG you liked Renee? I alternated from screaming at her through the television to wanting to punch her in the face and dreaming of the day she got voted off the island - which I never got to see, thank you very much Channel 10. :/ I seriously need Pay TV like now.
Cycle 7
Well, I was always torn between Melrose and Caridee as well, to be honest, but at the end of the day I loved Caridee, and I read somewhere that she's the most successful of the Top Model winners so that's something. Melrose was beautiful, but the thing with me is, if they have an ugly personality, I can't see past that. Hence the reason why I hated Renee with a passion - she was a horrible, nasty person. Melrose was completely up herself and I don't respond well to that at all. I always go for the nice ones. :(
It's weird though, because in Survivor - I always go for the villains. Hmmm....
Cycle 6
Oh, I loved Joanie - the Cinderella shoot she did, that's the one I always remember - she was so beautiful. Can't believe she didn't win. That was another series I never got to see the end of. :(
Cycle 5
Oh my god Nik was gorgeous, wasn't she? But I loved Nicole, I was happy that she won.
And those are the only seasons I've seen, isn't that sad? I love America's Next Top Model so much - it's like a drug!
I don't know how it got started! Oh, right, I was furious with the Australian one and somehow, it became about my bad luck at picking winners and then I had to give visual aids for people who couldn't match names to faces and...yeah, it became massive. Whoops?
That was pretty stupid, if you ask me - this girl's got the whole world at her feet and she turns down an offer like that? That's just insane. I'll take fashion over a bogan brickie husband and a bunch of kids any day, thanks.
Firstly, ITA. It shows how two-faced she is, claiming she wants to model more than anything and even though she didn't win, she gets the chance to make it big but walks away from it. GAH.
Secondly, hee. Me, too. If I had any aptitude for modeling, you betcha I'd be out there, making my millions, rather than ending up barefoot and pregnant. I'd be a terrible housewife, lol.
*gasp* You hated Natasha? I thought she was cute and quirky! And you hated Renee?! Lol, we have such different opinions on the contestants. I'm not saying any of my girls are perfect, but I liked them a lot more than some of the other simpering, fake, OTT airheads.
And Melrose! Wow, it's like we're watching two completely different shows! Okay, thing is, I have a soft spot for the girl that everyone else picks on. Melrose and Renee, I didn't think they were nasty or horrible or up themselves, I thought the other girls didn't treat them that well [at least, I have this vague memory of that, anyway, haven't seen their seasons in ages] and they reacted defensively and then came off as the bad guy.
I can sympathize with that because people at school used to say hurtful things to me and when I'd snap back, they'd say it was just a joke and I shouldn't be so sensitive and that kind of crap.
Caridee- she was just so brash and loud and obnoxious, it irritated me. She was gorgeous, but I didn't really like her superior attitude. That's how I saw her anyway. It's weird that we have polar opposite views on them!
Ooh, haven't seen Survivor in ages! No, no, in that show, I go for the nice guys. I wanted Yauman in Survivor: Fiji to win. *stamps foot* HE DESERVED IT. Little guy that nobody thought would amount to much, he had more brains and talent at the show than everyone else combined.
Yay, finally we agree on someone! Joanie is one of my all time favorites- she was just so sweet.
That was another series I never got to see the end of. :(
Dude, you have the worst luck with this show! Does Channel 10 not air the finale or do you somehow miss them? My grandmother has Foxtel, we bond by watching this type of thing together, lol.
I didn't love or hate Nicole- I thought she was pretty and pulled off some great shots, so it didn't bother me. I like it when I feel that way about the final two, otherwise I brood about the outcome for the next few weeks.
And those are the only seasons I've seen, isn't that sad? I love America's Next Top Model so much - it's like a drug!
*huggles* That's sad. I've seen every single season except the first and it's been such fun. I love how creative their photoshoots are and just watching these beautiful girls create art. Though I hate the shrill shrieking and the fake drama. Also, the American girls seem to be a bit more delusional than the Australians, they're just crazy, do anything for attention.
I forgot to say something - Glee! I watched it, but never fear - they only showed the first episode as an "Advanced Screening" - we have to wait until September for the rest. God I hate Channel 10!
Actually, much as I agree with the sentiment, Channel 10 isn't to blame- except for airing the pilot months later, when it first aired in May.
According to wikipedia and tv.com, the show doesn't air again til September, which means that if Ch 10 is showing it then, they'll actually be quite speedy and up to date with the series! Gasp shock awe!
I don't even know what Glee is about, looks like some random high school thing, but I heard a few flisters talk about how excited they were, hence my interest. And then REID'S MOM, HA! But apparently it's being screened later in the year, so they'll probably rerun the first ep.
Now I just have to decide if it's worth d/l the pilot or not- scale of 1 to 10, 1 being 'wait for it to air in a few months' and 10 being 'OMG, DOWNLOAD IT NOW, YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT', what would you rate it?
I think it really depends on what kind of shows/fandoms you like. I mean if you absolutely hate 'High School Musical' then 'Glee' probably isn't for you (although it's different in a lot of ways and is obviously more adult) but if you like musicals and general teen dramas then you'll probably like it. Personally I'd give it a 7 but I definitely don't see the harm in waiting until it airs to see whether you like it or not. :)
Thanks for the advice! I'll probably wait then, unless my curiosity gets the better of me. I'm easily swayed by popular opinion and I hate being left out of fandom discussion, so if it catches on I might d/l it other wise, it sounds like my life can go on without experiencing this phenomenon. :P
I looked it up on wikipedia and while I really like the concept, I'm concerned that the adults seem to be caricatures, I've come across a few shows where the younger characters are well-drawn and complex and then we have the stereotypical, OTT adults and it's so annoying.
All those girls just look so vacuous and so damn hungry, I'm sorry. When I was growing up models had personality and they definitely had curves. Those women freak me out....and who rock climbs in stilettos? In most of those pictures they look as if they want to be anywhere but where they are /spiel.
Lol, way to be blunt! Although I do agree with you on the need for appropriate footwear when rock-climbing, but in fashion, it's always about looking good than being practical. *shrugs*
Seems like the trend is going back to girls with curves, on reality tv shows, anyway. I don't think Tyra and Sarah's social engineering would have much impact on the modeling world, but we're gradually getting more fuller sized models. Even though what they consider 'plus-sized' is still damn tiny.
IKR? Jane Lynch is the main reason I want to watch this show!
IT DRIVES ME FRIGGIN INSANE THAT ANYA DIDN'T WIN! She was the epitome of everything they claim to want and they picked Whitney.....yeesh. I don't even remember who they picked this time. I guess I didn't care...Oh yeah! I really really wanted the runner up to win
AAAANYAAAAA. *pouts* She would've been the BEST of the entire series, I do believe. But just like with my favorite, Clare, she got booted to make way for the chick with the 'social message'. Big is better, apparently. Let's choose the girl with curves, even if she has little chance of making it in this industry, rather than the more talented and deserving girl. I like Whitney, but I LOVE Anya.
I don't even remember who they picked this time. I guess I didn't care...Oh yeah! I really really wanted the runner up to win
Is that Cycle 12? I accidentally spoiled myself on wikipedia when I was looking up past contestants and I have to agree- I'm SO disappointed, I loved the runner up, she was mad cute and I was cheering for her, though we only just watched the semi-finals here and thus I've not even seen her complete a real challenge yet, lol.
No comment on the models, but The Middleman is coming out on DVD in the next few days here (already preordered mine) and Javi has said that good enough sales could still translate a revival. Also, he did episode 13 (the one he sacrificed to get more time and money for 12) in comic-book format and that's coming out soon as well. Backstory for MM and WW in a Princess Leia bikini have both been promised *leers*
I preordered mine from Amazon. I'm not sure whether they ship there or what region of DVD you would need, but I you can also get the eps on iTunes for $1.99 a pop, so less than $25 for the whole season.
*hug* Hope springs eternal and ABC Family has said they're looking at iTunes sales in addition to DVD ones. Wasn't Javi's Q&A a hoot? That man is such a trip...
HOW DARE YOU SUPPORT THE MONSTER THAT IS CASSI? *strikes you off flist*
Wait, noooo, j/k, come back! *glomps* I just d/l Two Suns, listening to Glass right now and dude, you've earned enough good karma to last you years!
The awful thing is that Cassi is utterly gorgeous and she gets good shots more often than not- but her attitude stinks. She's unstable, just a total nutcase and there's no way someone like her could represent Australia at this point. In a few years, with maturity, she'd be phenomenal but right now, no matter how gorgeous she is, it wouldn't work.
Look at that. There's something so innocent and pure about that shot, I love it, even if I can't stand her.
OMG, I laugh so much at Xena bloopers! They're just hilarious, and unafraid to be totally idiotic and embarrassing- I get the feeling that a lot of the 'bloopers' in other shows are just as scripted as the episodes. *eyeroll*
*sad eyes* I said I didn't know the show!!! DISCLAIMER DISCLAIMER!! I went on LOOKS. It is after all a model show which is all about being LOOKED at. *CLINGS* LOL. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN MY WHOLE ONLINE LIFE?!?!?!? I always think that every single model is a bitch and therefore pleasantly pleased when I find they're not. But yes, if you're going to represent a country you don't want to be a crazy bitch.
GLASS IS THE BESTEST SONG EVAR!!! ...and is also my theme song for Arthur/Morgana...
Xena bloopers are almost as funny as the Firefly bloopers but I seriously think the Xena humour has to do with the Kiwi sense of humour which is just FABOO! Kia Ora!

I don't think Tyra and Sarah's social engineering would have much impact on the modeling world, but we're gradually getting more fuller sized models. Even though what they consider 'plus-sized' is still damn tiny.
IKR? Jane Lynch is the main reason I want to watch this show!

Date: 2009-07-21 05:18 am (UTC)I don't even remember who they picked this time.

Date: 2009-07-21 05:14 am (UTC)Ugh, I just checked our dvd stores, doesn't look like it's coming out here, which figures. *kicks them* No fair.
Ha, that comic book looks darn cool! Preeettyyyy pictures! *squishes* Thanks for sharing!
And lol, that entry made me laugh so much, the back-and-forth about 'the-word-that-must-not-be-named' and the insult flinging, hee... :D

Date: 2009-07-20 11:46 pm (UTC)Wait, noooo, j/k, come back!
*eyeroll*

Xena bloopers are almost as funny as the Firefly bloopers but I seriously think the Xena humour has to do with the Kiwi sense of humour which is just FABOO! Kia Ora!
