Just randomly- icon love! *squishes
odakota_rose *

So, I was going to leap on the 'name your laptop' bandwagon.
odakota_rose has Moya,
mcgarrygirl78 has Matilda,
spence_reid has...Agnes? But when the only appropriate name that comes to mind is Galactica- for my laptop is one with the crashing, and the falling apart and the malfunctions and inevitable crapping up- I think I might maybe postpone this. I have a feeling all the BSG people will come bash up on me since any jokes about Galactica witty or not are just too soon. Besides, my laptop induces enough angst without its very name making me all glum and depressed, right? I'll stick with 'frelling piece of dren' for now. :P

Another TLW dream. I'm torn between amusement and concern at how much it's eating my brain. And in the grand tradition of my subconscious ripping off themes and events from other shows, considering how much I've been thinking about Boomer/Chief in the last week, it's perhaps not surprising that my dream dredged it up in terms of Marguerite and Roxton going through the whole 'I shall yell and rant and verbally abuse you to make everyone THINK we hate each other, while secretly, behind closed doors, we're stripping down and preparing to frak each other's brains out' routine. Lol. My brain used to be so innocent. >_< Where did this come from?
I love the miniseries. Roslin established power and got to be in control for like, the only time in the show, Apollo was actually cool, Helo- well, I still wanted to thwack him, but that's a step down from my usual urge to beat him to a pulp, and Baltar wasn't the writer's pet just yet. And it was fun watching it with Katherine- she's usually the one with the sexual innuendo and outrageous, colorful remarks, making me scramble to match wits with her, but two seconds into Six frakking Baltar, she's shielding her eyes behind a cushion. *smirks*

1. Go to your desktop and press the Print Scrn key [located on the right side of the F12 key]. [If you have a Mac, push the 'apple' key, shift and three]
2. Open a graphics program [like Picture Manager, Paint or Photoshop] and do a Paste [CTRL + V]. If you wish, you can 'edit' the image before saving it.
3. Post the picture here or on your lj. You can also give a short explanation on the look of your desktop if you want. You can explain why you prefer such a look or why it is full of icons. Things like that.
'k, disclaimer: my laptop is of such crapitude that a lot of normal functions you take for granted? Don't work. Ctrl + alt + del is one. Print scrn is another. So I'm doing this for the Deakin computer. Which means you don't get to see the clutter of mine and I can continue to pretend to be a neat, organized person. :P

Why do I prefer this look? Um, because M/R makes me FLAIL LIKE I HAVE NEVER FLAILED BEFORE, BBs. I'd infect everyone's laptops with it if I could. [well, random people that I don't know, because I don't want to piss off friends that have other OTPs, lol] This pic is courtesy of the lovely
sunkrux , thus invoking my everlasting loyalty and undying devotion five minutes after we 'met'.
I had a Sparky background for the longest time, then when it went all angst-inducing, I had Torri, followed by Em/Hotch and now I'm sticking with this, unless someone makes me a better offer. :P
Not many icons to explain:
- the xilisoft program I have to re-load every time I come to uni, but it's not that big an inconvenience, considering it allows me to rip TLW eps for vidmaking purposes in like, twenty minutes, compared with, oh, the two or three hours my laptop takes- and that's with the end result an uncertain prospect at best.
- divx is another program I have to upload each time, so I can watch some eps if I'm bored; the uni services are not created with a view to facilitating fangirling, for some odd reason. O.o
- Hee, the Meredith Brooks song Bitch is still there! That's the one I'm using for a vid right now. Makes me want to find a guy and torment him mercilessly, lol, I don't know why... >:P

Five questions from
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
1. If you could be any fictional character for 48 hours, who would it be and what would you do?
My response to any question of this nature is automatically Marguerite Krux. For no other reason than she owns my heart and soul.
What would I do...? *ponders Roxton* >:D No, no, um...let's try thinking clean, wholesome thoughts... *iz confuzzled* Heh, I would totally go raid his room, find that voodoo doll and have fun messing with him! *evil cackles* Come on, who among us hasn't, at one stage or another, had the desire to construct a voodoo doll of someone, friend or foe, and just torment them? Be honest!
2. What movie never fails to make you cry and why?
Oh, definitely Anna and the King. I have so much love for this movie, although it is exactly the kind of tragic, never-meant-to-be, 'lost chances and mourning regrets' kind of plot I normally despise. I firmly believe the music is to blame- once I heard it, I couldn't stop watching the movie, it's just so beautiful and haunting and I'm a sucker for that kind of swelling epic music that builds up like a dam and then bursts my heart as it overflows [BSG last, zomg, how awesome was that music?! *dies*].
3. If you had the chance to be anything you wanted in life, forgetting money and all that, what would it be?
But money is important to me! *flails*
Okay, okay...happy and successful and capable and independent. *nodnod* See, I'm not saying 'rich', but I would love to be good at something in a career-oriented way, and be able to live independently and have some self-esteem from supporting myself.
Failing that, I'd rather be dead.
4. What is your favorite childhood memory?
I was just talking about this the other day, it's odd how I have so few memories of my parents- my earliest memories are of my aunt and cousins.
Anyway, favorite memory...I don't have a lot of good memories, I was always this weird lonely kid, but...I remember being at the McDonald's playground with my cousins, and us girls were running around on the apparatus, and Amu was playing the 'monster' on the ground. It was the most terrifying thing ever, not knowing where he was as he stalked us from below, whispering to each other as we tried to figure out his location, screaming in excitement and fear as his hand suddenly shot over the railing and reached out to grab us...as an only child, I cherished these rare moments with them, so I'll go with that.
Although I don't know, Disneyland in Paris was also a blast, lol, but I don't have any specific memories of that time.
5. What is the non-fandom thing that brings you the most joy right now?
You. :D
Lj in general. Just chatting with my flist and being around people that accept me. I'd spend every free hour here if I could, I mean, two days in a row, I was here for six hours and I still didn't finish all that I wanted to! There's just so much to do and see and talk about, even when the fandom element is removed from the equation.

I know what you mean about spending all your time on LJ and loving every moment. I stopped feeling guilty about it a long time ago.
Expect answers to those interview questions you gave me forever ago tomorrow....I've posted enough for tonight barring any major squee like I dont know Paget Brewster calling my cell phone or something.

*g* LMAO, you'd better give all the goss should this earth-shattering, life-defining moment occur!
I thought it was hilarious, at this Stargate convention, this woman mentioned her daughter couldn't make it because she was studying for exams or something, so Chris Judge [who's a lead in SG-1] totally gets her phone and rings up the daughter- WHO THEN FREAKS AND HANGS UP ON HIM BECAUSE SHE THINKS HE'S SOME PERV MESSING WITH HER! *dies laughing* I bet that poor girl kicked herself later, lol.

I know most of the TLW fandom just LOVES the kissing scenes in Dead Man's Hill (S3 eps) because yes, in all honesty it's hottness x infinity, but damnitalltohel it's not, I mean NOT MARGUERITE Roxton is kissing. It's Maylene. So in MY UNIVERSE (which is ruled mostly by my muse, Marguerite {yes that's her name, trust me}) that kiss doesn't count as a Marguerite/Roxton kiss.
Besides...the kiss in my pic (from Eye for an Eye is so much sweeter because it's when we first hear her say that she loves Roxton. SQUEEEEE!!!! Granted she doesn't tell him...but she finally admits it to herself (and the fans) which is a HUGE step for her. That and near the end of the kiss she's all "Wait...I'm not done with the kissing you" when Roxton pulls away to make sure she's okay. That bit cracks me up no end.

Date: 2009-03-07 12:21 am (UTC)Though I did think the dialogue the writers gave Marguerite to sway not!Roxton was a little eyeroll-worthy, because really, hair? Is warm and soft and smells nice, yes, but love is an intangible force that cannot be conveyed through HAIR.

YES. THAT. ITA. I don't mind people flailing like it's the hottest thing ever, but come on, don't act like it's part of our ship! The kiss in Paradise Found is one thing because I believe that fruit released her inhibitions and allowed her to act on her desires, but Dead Man's Hill is low down on my list of eps to rewatch because I'd rather squee over an ep that focuses heavily on the ACTUAL M nd R, not a proxy, kthxbai. If you count that kiss in Dead Man's Hill as an M/R kiss, you may as well count the one in The Knife between the pseudo!M and R in Malone's visions, and that'd be ridiculous, so I rest my case.

I actually loved that dialogue. Since technically, love, is intangible, having Dark!Roxton feel the warmth of her hair (warmth from the sun) and that it was real, tangible and I would imagine that Roxton enjoys playing with it, touching it, caressing it lovingly, Marguerite was hoping that Dark!Roxton would have memories of that. She was trying to help him connect to something real.
Well in Malone's visions, it wasn't really M/R, they just showed up because he was confusing his reality with that of the reality of Jack the Ripper. But yeah, that kiss and the kiss in DMH so do NOT count in the M/R universe I live in. ;)

Well, lol, good decision on TPTB's part not to let other actors take over half the show [like in that Finn-centric ep where Marguerite, Roxton and Challenger literally go missing for the entire thing, gah] when they have perfectly good mains sitting around that could do the job just as well. And what a way to make the whole Jack the Ripper thing new and exciting, getting familiar faces to portray the main players.
But yeah, that kiss and the kiss in DMH so do NOT count in the M/R universe I live in. ;)
*runs to join your universe* :D What a great place to live! ♥

Date: 2009-03-09 12:11 am (UTC)I suppose the insights I have might be due to my being an amateur actor but I really think it's largely due to how readily I identified with Marguerite. :D She totally rocks.
I really have blocked most of that eps out of my memory. Lately when I've watched that eps, I only watch the beginning (cause of the R/M interaction) and the very end AFTER M/R & C are back...again for the R/M interaction. :D The rest of that eps is just filler. I would have much rather that they'd done a "clip" eps to give Rachel, Peter and Will time off. LOL

It's so preeeety. Also, in addition to what you mentioned, the holding, it's very 'you are mine/I am yours' and just... ♥ I need to show you a few icons, I was going to do it last night but we had to get ready to move back to our place. *is finally home, reveling in privacy of own bedroom*

'you are mine/I am yours'
*nods fervently* It's cool that it's not just the man being all possessive and like, 'this is my woman,' she's equally possessive, she's got her hand on his chest and it's just...I haven't the words to articulate my love for this pic. :D
OOOOHHH, ICONSSS?! *wriggles* How exciting! But hey, good news that you're back home! Sharing kinda harshes the creative atmosphere, huh? *sympathizes*

That's absolutely brilliant. ♥
It's cool that it's not just the man being all possessive and like, 'this is my woman,'
Yeah, and can we honestly see Marguerite going for that anyways? *imagines and cracks up laughing*
equally possessive, she's got her hand on his chest
Bingo. It's very couple-ish. And also, you kind of feel almost like you're intruding. How do they do this?
*g* Okay, if they aren't up by tomorrow night or sunday at some point, I need you to come kick my butt about it, because otherwise my procrastination will go crazy.
